Vehicle History

June 2020 Go North East From Monday 1 June 2020, in line with guidance from the government, Go North East's bus services will start returning to what can be considered a 'normal' level of service on weekdays (albeit still reduced on weekends), also with some minor changes which had originally been planned to take place from 17 May 2020. The depots which were temporarily 'mothballed' for the duration of the crisis have now re-opened, except for Saltmeadows Road, which is where most of the National Express coaches are stored. The central works facility remains open as usual. Therefore, this vehicle has now transferred from Riverside Depot to Chester-le-Street.
May 2020 Go North East Photograph by With an expectant announcement from the government this weekend that some 'lockdown' restrictions could be relaxed, there may be an increase in demand for bus services. Therefore, some services are going to be operated by larger vehicles, to allow greater social distancing on-board buses, and Go North East will deploy up to 10 'hot spare' vehicles at key bus stations over the morning and evening peaks. As such, this vehicle has been reinstated at Riverside.
May 2020 Go North East With an expected announcement from the UK Government on Sunday 10 May to relax some of the current "lockdown" restrictions in the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, which could lead to an increased number of passengers travelling on Go North East's bus services, further re-allocations and service allocation revisions are being made, in order to increase social distancing on-board Go North East's bus services. This will include double-deck buses being allocated to services ordinarily allocated single-decks, and single-deck buses being allocated to those services which had been temporarily allocated minibuses for the duration of the crisis. Therefore this vehicle has been reinstated, and has transferred from Chester-le-Street Depot to Riverside.
April 2020 Go North East Following completion of all required vehicle re-allocations; this vehicle has been temporarily withdrawn from service due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and has been officially delicensed (SORN'd), enabling Go North East to obtain a tax refund.
January 2018 Go North East Photograph by This vehicle has entered service at Chester-le-Street Depot on "The Angel" service 21 (Durham - Chester-le-Street - Newcastle).
January 2018 Go North East Prior to entering service, this vehicle has received "The Angel" branding.
December 2017 Go North East Photograph by This vehicle, which carries a two-tone green and yellow base livery, has arrived into the Go North East fleet. It is currently being prepared for service at Saltmeadows Road Depot. Representing an investment of approximately £4.3 million, this batch of vehicles have been ordered to upgrade "Angel" service 21, which is currently allocated Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 bodied Volvo B5LHs, partially funded by a grant of £1,119,235 in Round 3 of the Green Bus Fund in 2012. These vehicles feature the latest technology, and are fitted with the third generation of Wrightbus' Micro-Hybrid system. This system allows a 21% fuel and CO2 saving; and is achieved by carrying through the technologies from the previous two generations of the Micro-Hybrid systems, as well as additional features being added, such as a third smart alternator to power new electric features such as an electric air compressor, which reduces engine load and fuel consumption. As well as this, the vehicles feature Euro 6 stop/start engines. Internally; they feature Esteban Civic V3 seating complete with leather and soft topper foam for added comfort; four tables on the upper saloon; two-colour Tarabus 'Wood Effect' flooring; and blue accent lighting, which is fitted underneath seats and on the stairwell, to provide extra light on the gangway. A first for Go North East; this batch of vehicles also includes a glass staircase, for added style and again providing further light on the stairwell. Like all new vehicles; they feature Wi-Fi, 'Next Stop' audio-visual announcements and USB connections as standard, though these vehicles also feature three-pin power sockets on the upper saloon tables.
