RE: Yorkshire Bus Operations - Kuyoyo - 05 Apr 2015

Arriva Yorkshiire
Volvo B9TL/Opatre Olympus 1904 (YJ08 EEB) has moved from Dewsbury to Selby for use on the 415. Rumours are going around that a number of these will replace Geminis 1500-7 on the service due to increasing unreliability.

Information all from members of the 'Travel West Yorkshire' forum

First South Yorkshire
Streetdeck 35101 (SN64 CSF) has transferred from Sheffield Olive Grove to Rotherham Midland Road to commence trials on the X78 (Doncaster to Sheffield via Rotherham and Meadowhall) ahead of an alleged order for 22 for use on the X78 replacing the increasing unreliable (and increasing costly) Volvo B9TLs presently used on the service.

With thanks to Duncan Robinson on 'The Northern Road Transport Trust' Facebook group, it will work the following X78 journeys on weekday:
Doncaster to Sheffield: 0530 0830 1140 1450 1810 2110
Doncaster to Rotherham: 2345
Rotherham to Doncaster: 0448
Sheffield to Doncaster: 0650 1005 1315 1630 1945 2230

RE: Yorkshire Bus Operations - S813 FVK - 11 Apr 2015

Got a few nags regarding the bus scene in Yorkshire:

  1. Why is the X20 called the X20? It started off as an express running straight along the A165 to Blue Dolphin rather than going around Cayton Village. This continued until this season when it was routed to go around Cayton and follow the same route as the standard 120 from Scarborough to Filey. Would it not be better to renumber the X20 journeys to 120 and advertise the service as every 30 minutes between Scarborough and Filey for the next season?
  2. Who came up with the idea to remove the North Bay turning circle that the 109 used? Absolutely bonkers in my opinion.
  3. Scarborough and District need to repair some details displayed on their P&R Centros. At least two still display 'At least every 12 minutes' rather than 15.
I appreciate that nobody on here will be able to give me an answer for most of the above but it annoyed me a bit.

Connexions' four Olympians were used on a special tour on Sunday, which was billed as a 'G104AAD farewell' (it is due for withdrawal shortly), which possibly turned out to be just that as it failed with after the first part of its run! Still a good afternoon out though. Here are a few pictures from the day (one of the line up, plus one of each bus):

(02 Apr 2015, 6:30 pm)roar Sure Bridlington also has buses on the 121.

Regarding this: Bridlington used to have one of the three 120 boards. However, this was later removed and transferred to Scarborough.

(17 Apr 2015, 7:00 pm)Adam The second batch of electric Versas have now been delivered to First York. It's thought they will be operating Park & Ride Routes 59 (joining the first batch that currently operate that route) and the 9. If I recall correctly from my travels down there last year, the 9 operates with Wright Eclipse Urbans.

One of Harrogate & District's Leyland Olympians, normally used only on school work, has worked a peak Thorpe Arch-Harrogate service the past two evenings, releasing one of the main fleet for Flower Show shuttles. Here it is about to pull up for me to board it:

Quality working! My recollection of the 770 says it is quite tight for time too, normally a good route for enthusiastic driving with B10BLEs, so I can only imagine what a Leyland was like!

Transdev Keighley have now refurbished the first 2 of their 13-strong 10-year old Volvo B7RLEs used on 'The Shuttle' 662 (Keighley - Bradford). The first is 1801. The registration is reportedly expected to change.

I reckon it will be one of those things that will both take time to get used and be required to see in person.

A new day will be dawning in York on August 1st 2015

Following tendering, the University of York has awarded the Unibus contract to First York, who will introduce service 66 from the above date. However, Transdev will be continuing operation of the 44 between the Railway Station and the University however it will have to be re-routed within the University as they will no longer be able to use the bus-only road within the Campus. The future of First's 4 between Acomb and the University and the ub1 within the Campus is not yet known.

RE: Yorkshire Bus Operations - Kuyoyo - 31 May 2015

It has now been confirmed that First's South Yorkshire's operation will be taking 22 Wright Streetdecks later this year for the X78 (Sheffield-Rotherham-Doncaster) operated from Rotherham's Midland Road depot, presently in the hands of Volvo B9TLs.

As a result, the B7RLEs York gained from Halifax in early 2014 are to transfer to Bradford in exchange for their B9TLs. The first of the batch, 37070 (YK57 FAA) is now at Rotherham for repaint.

(12 Dec 2014, 9:03 pm)R852 PRG Is Leeds in Yorkshire? Tongue

Sorry I'm just really bad with counties and regions, etc., I think it's classed West Yorkshire! Smile

Anyway, I never want to see another Enviro400 ever again. Must have counted about 40-50 in First colours, along with one or two B7TL Geminis and an ALX400.

Saw loads of Arriva stuff as well, although I must say Leeds seems very much like Newcastle - in the sense that certain areas are dominated by different operators.

You were either just in the wrong place or mistaken. There are 273 near identical Gemini double decks with First Leeds, just 18 Enviro 400s.

First Leeds run pretty much all services within Leeds boundaries, so like Stagecoach in Newcastle in that respect, Arriva run services from other areas.
