I know what you mean now, usually after the traffic island on chester road/Cortina avenue theres 2 lanes of traffic flow to the roundabout at rush hour, but the problem is theres a high percentage of traffic wanting to go straight over the roundabout onto the Broadway, so the traffic in the right lane either tries to nip in on the exit or goes right around the roundabout until the broadway turn off or traffic nips up Nookside then pennywell road onto grindon mill roundabout. I remember in the late 80's and into the 90's with busways 800's and 300's on the 15 and 16 service, that the bus driver used to go on the right lane and take the bus on a merry go round right round the roundabout until its turn off instead of sitting in the traffic for ages. don't think the gas buses got the turning circle to get all the way round the roundabout from the town into springwell road.

Also... to make things worse
Sunderland council want to change Broadway House in to 4 different units... with a Greggs and Sainsbury's being 2 of the units... residents have a petition going, and its not just for them, its for the safety of the school children, as the school will be opposite them.

It is common knowledge (or maybe it isn't) that the building which houses Pop Recs Ltd has been sold to a private investor. It is with some sadness but not without unflappable optimism that the shutters on our present home on Fawcett Street will come down for the final time on July 1st.
What was initially a month long project/statement of intent from a band has become a model which has identified need for a creative outlet amongst the many talented individuals in Sunderland and beyond.
Pop Recs has had the privilege of watching small pockets of entrepreneurial creativity flourish into amazing projects which have became a home for so many people who simply did not have a place to be. A place for their skills to manifest and exist.
We have attracted big hitters from the world of music (Franz Ferdinand, James Bay, The Cribs, The Vaccines, The Charlatans et al...) and tried pretty hard to make these shows accessible by everyone regardless of what, where and who you are.
Because we have never had any security or capitol Pop Recs has been a constant evolving entity and ironically I believe we have only just plateaued and for the first time we know what we are. And what we are is a community resource that with my hand on my heart I can say has been a selfless project with the advancement of our creative community at the core of what we want to achieve.
We have tried to support all who have asked for it and tried at all times to do a good thing for a good reason. We have had to learn to wear many different hats to creative this cack handed hub and are proud to leave behind a legacy in Fawcett Street we can all be proud of.
But like Danny tells Sandy at the start of Grease "This isn't the end. It's only the beginning".
We aren't looking not to exist. I DO NOT see that as an option. That is a major step backwards and I'm much more comfortable making steps forward.
Id personally like to call upon everyone who has supported us any any way and offer a heartfelt thank you. You've touched a miserable tetchy old **** head more than you could possibly know.
What I can tell you is that Pop Recs on Fawcett street has been many things to many people. the people who have used it for whatever reason have molded this space.
Pop Recs has stood and faced the dam and plugged the holes which we had no idea were leaking.
We want more than anything to exist. To be stabilized and simply have the opportunity to realise all the things we have in our heads that provide opportunity and security for people who need it.
There are so many people we would like to thank but that suggests an ending and I genuinely do not think this is the end. So I wont bother.
We ARE looking at other properties.
We ARE NOT looking not to exist.
We might have to "pop out for 5 minutes" but we will be back bigger, better and hopefully a little more organized.

More information about the new bridge works have appeared:
• Beginning today (17th June) to the Northbound lanes of Timber Beach Road will be closed until 6th July 2015
• For the weekend of 3rd July – 6th July 2015, the Southbound lanes of Timber Beach Road will be closed. As this means the whole road will be closed on this weekend, I would suggest anyone who is attending work and travels along Wessington Way from the A19 use Colima Avenue instead.
• Beginning today (17th June) until 30th September 2015, lanes closures will be in place periodically along Hylton Park Road as the works progress. Two way traffic will be maintained by use of temporary traffic lights. Please allow extra time on your journey if you use this road to get to work.

The plans image in documents wouldn't open full screen so couldn't get it for here but this covers all of the previously mooted site including the rear car parks and pitch and put course, the only place to remain is Martinos/ jet amusements by the look of the site boundary indication.
The first phase is listed as 100 apartments situated on top of retail and leisure uses.
The document isn't clear and won't open full screen so i'm just posting what he has said, if its true, we will loose a lot of the area to apartments etc, the whole area where the fairground needs doing so its a good thing!

The Seaburn development is a good move, i think getting rid of everything on the Seafront apart from the Amusements and Martinos is a really good move... although the Amusements can do with a make-over..........the Pullman lodge is a eye sore now, same as the Seaburn centre, hopefully the Seaburn centre is re-built after development starts in the area, will be different if/when both go.
Vaux site - still anything can go on it, as long as the public can use it, which looks like they can..
Start both developments soon, don't fart around!

Looks it getting knocked down and replaced, its a eye sore.
Least where the fairground used to it'll look better once work starts...as you can still see the old Swan ride guide thing (Can't think of its proper name!)

The amount of restaurants opening in Newcastle is ridiculous! Another 21 planned for Eldon Square. On top of that you have Five Guys and Bryon Burgers or something that's meant to be opening.

Yeah Nandos is nice, often go there when I'm in town. Quite like the Handmade Burger Co. which is opening one in Eldon Square too (that'll be two within walking distance!).
