RE: GNE Bus Changes. - Andreos1 - 05 Sep 2014 (05 Sep 2014, 12:19 pm)Michael Nothing confirmed as there's nothing for them getting withdrawn as their current numbers, only M3A but that's NEXUS. Well, if they took the rough with the smooth and decided to operate it commercially... RE: GNE Bus Changes. - Michael - 05 Sep 2014 (05 Sep 2014, 2:50 pm)Andreos Constantopolous Well, if they took the rough with the smooth and decided to operate it commercially... Maybe, hopefully tbh, i'm not even sure what the number passengers are for the M2/M2A/M3/M3A/W5 or W6 during the day.. as i'm not from Washington.. can imagine it being quite low on a night? RE: GNE Bus Changes. - Andreos1 - 05 Sep 2014 (05 Sep 2014, 2:54 pm)Michael Maybe, hopefully tbh, i'm not even sure what the number passengers are for the M2/M2A/M3/M3A/W5 or W6 during the day.. as i'm not from Washington.. can imagine it being quite low on a night? Used them the M2/M3 a bit, but not for a while. They carry more than fresh air, particularly when the bingo is starting/finishing. Not much taken in the way of cash - before or after GNE got rid of the evening stuff. Lots of traveltickets, buzzfares and conc tickets at that time of day. Nothing about bringing the 830 back and terminating the 825 at Stanley again! Thats the change that should take priority over everything. RE: GNE Bus Changes. - S813 FVK - 05 Sep 2014 (05 Sep 2014, 10:31 am)Michael PB0002400/304 - GO NORTHERN LTD T/A GO NORTH EAST, 117 QUEEN STREET, GATESHEAD, NE8 2UA Reintroduction of service 8A or a plain mistake? Just reading through. No point in having an 8A unless its intended to go via the 78 route to Chester then the ordinary 8 route to Sunderland on Sundays (and evenings) and replacing the 78 operations on Sundays. Other than that, cant think of anything else. RE: GNE Bus Changes. - Dan - 05 Sep 2014 (05 Sep 2014, 3:47 pm)Robert Reintroduction of service 8A or a plain mistake? Just reading through. RE: GNE Bus Changes. - Dan - 05 Sep 2014 (05 Sep 2014, 3:58 pm)Andreos Constantopolous Any idea why it was going to Chester via Grange Villa? Perhaps there's multiple 8As loaded, and the driver has selected the wrong one. RE: GNE Bus Changes. - nk55 - 05 Sep 2014 (05 Sep 2014, 4:17 pm)Michael Have to remember that the VOSA registrations isn't changed sometimes, the 51/52 one, still has them going to Newcastle, when they don't. It no mistake, Service 8 & 8A are to operate stanley to sunderland. 8A via the current 8 route, 8 has a new route. Route learning for chester drivers to commence on monday. Noticed the 78/78a has a timetable change, possible that the 8, 8a may interwork and the 78 may stand alone or 8 or 8a maybe peak journeys only and the 78 maybe retimed to account for extra running time if required on the 8. All will be revealed on the gne website. Interesting! Hopefully something will be done to allow extra time during peaks, when the 8/78 is affected hideously by the traffic on Chester Road. Ah right sounds interesting... wonder if this will effect the order for new buses for it. Any idea what this 8 route will be? I use the Lime to the galleries on a morning that's all Edit: Will we finally get the 8 going through Sunderland Enterprise park near Castletown, then along to the Washington highway?, wasn't that proposed years ago, can;t remember the full route they wanted to do And how will effect the frequency, hourly each? (05 Sep 2014, 4:55 pm)Dan Interesting! Bloody hope so, maybe it might be like the X35/X36, have a longer lay off, about 10-15 mins? RE: GNE Bus Changes. - Malarkey - 05 Sep 2014 (05 Sep 2014, 10:31 am)Michael PB0002400/304 - GO NORTHERN LTD T/A GO NORTH EAST, 117 QUEEN STREET, GATESHEAD, NE8 2UA Although it'll look rather strange at first, it makes perfect sense Re-Numbering the Washington Local Services into the (80 Series) alongside the 88/88A, I don't see the point of the 82A/83A though, When Go North East could of easily Numbered them 81 and 84 so that the Letters could be dropped, I would argue the same for the 88A, Could be 87 or 89. RE: GNE Bus Changes. - S813 FVK - 05 Sep 2014 (05 Sep 2014, 5:11 pm)NEBCD Malarkey Although it'll look rather strange at first, it makes perfect sense Re-Numbering the Washington Local Services into the (80 Series) alongside the 88/88A, I don't see the point of the 82A/83A though, When Go North East could of easily Numbered them 81 and 84 so that the Letters could be dropped, I would argue the same for the 88A, Could be 87 or 89. I think it would be a lot easier to keep the 'A' on the services. People have known them as a 'M2A' or 'M3A' so if it was to change may cause a slight bit of confusion. RE: GNE Bus Changes. - Malarkey - 05 Sep 2014 (05 Sep 2014, 5:18 pm)Robert I think it would be a lot easier to keep the 'A' on the services. People have known them as a 'M2A' or 'M3A' so if it was to change may cause a slight bit of confusion. But the M2A/M3A are only Peak Time Services though, so surely it won't be that confusing for Passengers. RE: GNE Bus Changes. - S813 FVK - 05 Sep 2014 (05 Sep 2014, 5:24 pm)NEBCD Malarkey But the M2A/M3A are only Peak Time Services though, so surely it won't be that confusing for Passengers. How long have the M2A/M3A been running as those services? Its exactly the same service with a slight variation, therefore, i dont see any point in classing the services as 2 different ones. People are going to be too used to the M2A/M3A turning up and at least 82A/83A will resemble this closely, making it easier for people to recognize what service it is rather than having a completely different service number which may lead people to think that its a brand new service and they should let the bus go past them. You'd be surprised at how many people just look at the service number rather than the destination because they know what bus they are boarding. RE: GNE Bus Changes. - Michael - 05 Sep 2014 Maybe a GNE representative can give some details on the lime changes? RE: GNE Bus Changes. - Malarkey - 05 Sep 2014 (05 Sep 2014, 6:21 pm)Michael Maybe a GNE representative can give some details on the lime changes? I have a feeling the 8A will be basically the old X8, As for the current 8 I have no idea but it could leave Picktree Village without a Service during the Day, Depending on what the changes actually are, I do think that having the 8 Operating Non Stop between CLS and Washington could be a Major Benefit to the Reliability of the Service. |
