RE: Durham County Council - BusLoverMum - 16 Jan 2016

(16 Jan 2016, 11:03 am)Andreos1 Similar to North Road?

I only ever use Peterlee to change buses, so have never ventured anywhere other than the bus stands.

There's quite a lot of space between the sheltered area and the bus bays and a lot of people wait there. It gets quite unpleasant inside when it's busy. Loud and claustrophobic.

You're not missing much not leaving the station. It's pretty much home bargains, B&M bargains and the ilk, plus a massive asda. And it's all very tired and ugly looking. The new town dream all gone to rot.

Good. It does my head in, having to walk through a cloud of smoke, every time I walk in or out of Durham bus station.

I've made the choice not to pollute my lungs, so I'd really prefer it if others didn't do it for me. Smile

Good, although I dare bet that after a few weeks they won't bother and just go back to hiding in their cubbyhole.

On the subject of Durham Bus Station, are they ever going to fix that door next to stand A?

Given that they're holding out for a new one, I doubt they're ever going to fix it.

Though I have no idea what the excuse for not fixing the door to stand A at Peterlee. Hopefully, they have plans to flatten the entire town centre and start again, a bit like Gateshead did.

There's sketchy details of the roadworks, here
https://twitter.com/DurhamCouncil/status/690157512092422144

Not seen anything on te ANE website about arrangements for the 22, 24 and 64 on Sunday, of course, though there was a notice taped up on one of the buses I caught today. Diversion via the A690. Not much good if you only catch the bus on a Sunday because there was nothing up on either bus I caught on Monday - one of them being the same as today's with the notice.

been told by DCC transport section that the service will be run by DCC fleet, I work at Wheatley Hill and customers are saying about when there lost there link to Deaf Hill and trimdon areas.

About service 214 Haswell-Thornley-Wheatley Hill-Peterlee Industrial estate, I was asking DCC about what operates this service as I havn't seen a mini bus etc... going along the route at the set time, the reply back was:

Tony’s Taxis is operated under his ‘Restricted PSV Licence’ which allows a licensed taxi or private hire vehicle to be used on a local service (ie capable of carrying 8 or fewer passengers). To be honest I don’t know what he is currently operating it with or displaying but it can be used between any two points on the route.

Aye, when we moved here, like 13 years ago, there was a minibus that did a similar route, but that bit the dust when we got the 57a

That minibus service was a dial a ride run by Community Transport.... It did nothing.
lets hope this 216 has more luck..

RE: Durham County Council - BusLoverMum - 31 Oct 2016

Well, I hope word gets around about the 216 because I passed it at gore hall, this afternoon, carrying fresh air.

Actually think they've missed a trick not running I to Sedgefield Sainsbury's.
