RE: Yorkshire Bus Operations - Kuyoyo - 07 Sep 2018 Stagecoach Yorkshire Formerly branded for ‘your forty three’ (43 Chesterfield to Sheffield vi Dronfield), Scania N230UD/Enviro400 15827 is the first of a pair of Chesterfield examples to gain ‘aspire’ branding for service 77. EDIT: Photo below shows the branding, applied to 15827 as well as Worksop's 15175 (vehicle highlighted in photo) YN64XTB Stagecoach Worksop 15175 by martin arrand, on Flickr RE: Yorkshire Bus Operations - Kuyoyo - 09 Sep 2018 (07 Sep 2018, 1:19 pm)Kuyoyo Stagecoach Yorkshire The second of Chesterfield’s has been confirmed as 15826 - a contrast in terms of specifications (Chesterfield’s duo being standard Stagecoach specification, Worksop’s two being the higher spec used for Lincolnshire’s ‘Inter Connect’ Services). RE: Yorkshire Bus Operations - markydh - 10 Sep 2018 Why are other divisions continually creating new brands, yet the North East is getting rid of them? I thought it was national policy not to have them, now? RE: Yorkshire Bus Operations - Tamesider - 11 Sep 2018 (10 Sep 2018, 10:48 am)markydh Why are other divisions continually creating new brands, yet the North East is getting rid of them? I thought it was national policy not to have them, now? I would think there are a number of reasons. For instance, the North East market is probably similar to (Greater) Manchester; bus users use buses because they can't access any other form of transport. Branding is pointless because people just want punctual and affordable buses to get to work, medical appointments and the shops. Also, they are fighting a losing battle (or actually they *aren't* fighting it) against the local media who think that no matter how a bus is adorned it is the primary cause of pollution in cities and the people who travel on them don't actually exist. Additionally, branding has been drastically diluted by buses not being allocated to the correct routes. Understandable at peak times, but not at weekends. The penny seems to be dropping at Stagecoach Manchester as the buses branded for the 76 are now being repainted into standard livery - with adverts hastily added in the case of 10044 at least. RE: Yorkshire Bus Operations - Kuyoyo - 12 Sep 2018 (04 Sep 2018, 10:15 am)Kuyoyo Stagecoach Yorkshire Thanks to Steven Knight's 'Fleetnews Rambling' Page, the transferred Solos are 47317/8 (Ecclesfield) and 47319-21 (Barnsley). That leaves 47322-5 at Chesterfield - giving one spare on a weekday and two on Saturdays (the Matlock towns only operates Monday to Friday). RE: Yorkshire Bus Operations - Kuyoyo - 16 Sep 2018 (01 Sep 2018, 5:51 pm)Kuyoyo First Yorkshire From a photo posted on Facebook, 69017 has become the fourth Heritage repaint at Olive Grove depot - carrying 'Mainline' livery and fleetnumber '1017'. This is the sixth Heritage repaint in the First South Yorkshire fleet and the first single decker to be treated. First South Yorkshire 69017 repainted into heritage Mainline livery. by Chris, on Flickr RE: Yorkshire Bus Operations - Kuyoyo - 20 Sep 2018 (24 Jun 2018, 12:53 pm)Kuyoyo That's one of the 8 Park & Ride examples - delivered a few weeks ago. New details have emerged regarding some of the new batch of Streetdecks From 15th October, First Leeds will be operating new service X26, linking the City Centre (the Station area) with the Thorpe Park Business Park via Crossgates. Initially running every 15 minutes, from 9th December it is reduced to every 20 minutes with the start of the X27 - virtually the same as the X26 apart from taking a different route between Crossgates and Thorpe Park. The timetable has been uploaded to Thorpe Park's website, showing a graphic of an Orange-branded 'Leeds City' Streetdeck. http://www.thorpepark-parklife.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/X26_X27-Timetable-Full.pdf RE: Yorkshire Bus Operations - Kuyoyo - 27 Sep 2018 Stagecoach Yorkshire Two main items of note: Rawmarsh-based Dart 35228 was destroyed by fire in Rotherham Forge Island Bus Station last week - due to the nature of the fire, it is most certainly a write-off. As yet, no details on a replacement for it. Chesterfield’s Gold E400MMCs appears to have entered service today, a photo having appeared on Facebook an hour ago of 11124 working a Matlock-Sheffield trip. Their entry into service will release the Gold Scanias for use on services 50/50a/50b (Chesterfield to Sheffield via New Whinnington, Eckington and Manor Top), and E400MMC 10662 back to Barnsley off loan. This also ‘in theory’ allows two MANs to be displaced, and also likely spells the end for the quarters of Scania Omnidekkas based at Chesterfield. RE: Yorkshire Bus Operations - Kuyoyo - 28 Sep 2018 (27 Sep 2018, 2:02 pm)Kuyoyo Stagecoach Yorkshire Confirmation that the majority are now in service. So far confirmed are: Branded 11118-21/3/4 (11123/4 noted in service yesterday) Unbranded 'spare' 11125 - this will take the place of 15195 on the 54 when not required on the X17 RE: Yorkshire Bus Operations - Kuyoyo - 11 Oct 2018 First South Yorkshire Reported on 'Travel South Yorkshire' Forum - Volvo B7TLs 37147-55 (YN06 URA/B/C/D/E/F/G/H/J) and 37172-9 (SF07 FDC/D/E/G/J/K/L/M) are due from First Glasgow (Caledonia depot). This is a return 'home' for 37147-55, which were new to the now-closed Halfway depot for the old service 60 (Fulwood to City Centre - now the south western part of the 120). No details which depot yet. RE: Yorkshire Bus Operations - Tamesider - 11 Oct 2018 (11 Oct 2018, 11:15 am)Kuyoyo First South Yorkshire 37146 is a Potteries bus - seen in Hanley last month RE: Yorkshire Bus Operations - Kuyoyo - 12 Oct 2018 First West Yorkshire Photos of the next batch of 'Leeds City' Streetdecks complete at Wrightbus are now appearing - the entire batch have been confirmed as joining the original batch at Hunslet Park (note - for now), 9 will join the original batch as Red examples for the Headingley Corridor while the rest will be navy blue for the Dewsbury Road corridor - that being the 2 (Roundhay Park to Middleton Thorpe Lane), 3/3A (Brackenwood or Gleadhow to White Rose Centre), 12 (Roundhay Park to White Rose Centre or Middleton Circus or Middleton Thorpe Lane) and 13/13A (Brackenwood or Gleadhow to Middleton Thorpe Lane). And now for the reason for some of the next batch being red examples again, 5 of the original batch are currently in the process of being rebranded for the new Thorpe Park expresses X26/X27 in a Mustard Yellow version - 35261 being one of the first done. 35266 meanwhile has gained an allover advert for 'The Springs' Shopping development on Thorpe Park. 35261-6 will be transferring to Bramley from the start of the X26/X27 at the end of this month. RE: Yorkshire Bus Operations - Andreos1 - 15 Oct 2018 https://www.arrivabus.co.uk/north-kirklees-consultation Last few dates of the Arriva North Kirklees consultation. RE: Yorkshire Bus Operations - XUP254F - 24 Oct 2018 First West Yorkshire These are starting to appear in service in Leeds. Red examples observed in service today on the Headingley corridor were: 35547 SK68 TVM 35550 SK68 TVP RE: Yorkshire Bus Operations - S830OFT - 24 Oct 2018 Are Enviro 200s allocated to the 24/26? RE: Yorkshire Bus Operations - Kuyoyo - 30 Oct 2018 South Yorkshire A consultation is currently running in relation to a revamp of the Rotherham Area network in February 2019. https://www.travelsouthyorkshire.com/Feb2019/ RE: Yorkshire Bus Operations - Tamesider - 30 Oct 2018 (30 Oct 2018, 12:52 pm)Kuyoyo South Yorkshire As a matter of general (democratic) interest, is this consultation widely advertised in such as bus stop shelters and available to non-internet users, through paper questionnaires available in bus stations, health centres, shops, Post Offices and libraries (where they still exist!) etc? Also, broadening it out completely, how many local authorities or Operators up and down the country carry out such consultations? Such things ave never existed in Greater Manchester, and certainly as regards commercial services (the vast majority), being consulted about a bus service being withdrawn or re-routed is just as alien as Sainsburys consulting about withdrawing Lamb Tagliatelli or ruining Singapore Noodles by tripling the spice content - yes, both are actual examples before you ask. RE: Yorkshire Bus Operations - Andreos1 - 30 Oct 2018 (30 Oct 2018, 9:16 pm)Tamesider As a matter of general (democratic) interest, is this consultation widely advertised in such as bus stop shelters and available to non-internet users, through paper questionnaires available in bus stations, health centres, shops, Post Offices and libraries (where they still exist!) etc? You need to have a look in the various posts relating to GNE surveys/consultations. There's been some crackers over the years! The cynic in me and many others feel that those consultations were nothing other than a PR exercise (even bad publicity is good publicity). But at least they did them. Even if the samples have been small, questions have been loaded, key locations have been missed and staff have turned up late to them. My favourite example was the one they carried out a few years back in Park Lane Interchange. I will try and find the discussion and post it here, rather than describe what went on (or not as the case may be). There was a period of time, where online consultations were undertaken. Apart from there being an artificially small sample size, apparently they were abused and results were skewed. Nexus did a cracking piece of work about 10 years ago. They hired libraries and community centres, had staff on show and pushed it online too. They really went for it. When done well, I am a big fan of a consultation. When done poorly, they may as well have not been done at all. Edit: https://www.northeastbuses.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?tid=1186&page=18 There's about 9 or 10 pages on the famous Park Lane 'consultation'. Affected a huge area, two depots, red zone, purple zone and green zone, but concentrated on asking passengers in one area of the red zone. RE: Yorkshire Bus Operations - Kuyoyo - 04 Nov 2018 (11 Oct 2018, 11:15 am)Kuyoyo First South Yorkshire Update on this - originally intended to be allocated to Doncaster depot to increase their decker allocation, they are now being allocated to Olive Grove depot. While presently being used due to a shortage of vehicles, they will eventually allow the replacement of the entire allocation of Volvo B7TL/Plaxton Presidents and a small number of B7Ls. RE: Yorkshire Bus Operations - tyresmoke - 04 Nov 2018 (24 Oct 2018, 9:16 pm)S830OFT Are Enviro 200s allocated to the 24/26? Assuming these are the Arriva Yorkshire routes you're asking about, in York, they are supposed to be operated by Optare Solos. |
