RE: Tyne and Wear Metro - deanmachine - 26 Feb 2023 Yeah, just put 4G or 5G in the tunnels is all I'm really bothered about. Nothing worse than sitting about on the platform at Monument for 15 minutes with no signal. RE: Tyne and Wear Metro - Adrian - 27 Feb 2023 (26 Feb 2023, 10:45 pm)deanmachine Yeah, just put 4G or 5G in the tunnels is all I'm really bothered about. Nothing worse than sitting about on the platform at Monument for 15 minutes with no signal. EE users, and users of any virtual operators that use their network, have been able to get 4G/5G in the central section tunnels for a while now. It works perfectly from my experience. I thought it'd have been a partnership, but it was pointed out to me that it was installed and is maintained commercially by EE. At least the proof of concept is there now, if any other operators decide to do the same. RE: Tyne and Wear Metro - Storx - 27 Feb 2023 (27 Feb 2023, 1:59 pm)Adrian EE users, and users of any virtual operators that use their network, have been able to get 4G/5G in the central section tunnels for a while now. It works perfectly from my experience. Should be easy enough to do, even the London Underground has phone signal in the stations now and they're a warren of tunnels compared to the Metro which is pretty simple in comparison. RE: Tyne and Wear Metro - omnicity4659 - 27 Feb 2023 (24 Feb 2023, 7:05 am)Arcticrossy92 and here it is again, a few hours later covered in graffiti, I’m assume nexus will reject the delivery and have it repainted? No deliveries are rejected due to graffiti. It's to be expected with all new deliveries worldwide as there is a bounty on trains that haven't been tagged yet. RE: Tyne and Wear Metro - Michael - 28 Feb 2023 The Tyne and Wear Metro’s first new train arrived in North East England today, Tuesday 28 February, after Stadler successfully delivered it from their factory in Switzerland – heralding a landmark moment for the £362m programme. https://www.nexus.org.uk/news/item/stadler-delivers-first-new-train-tyne-and-wear-metro RE: Tyne and Wear Metro - MurdnunoC - 28 Feb 2023 (28 Feb 2023, 4:06 pm)Michael The Tyne and Wear Metro’s first new train arrived in North East England today, Tuesday 28 February, after Stadler successfully delivered it from their factory in Switzerland – heralding a landmark moment for the £362m programme. Not true. It was stabled at Lamesley for a day or so wasn't it ? Unless Lamesley isn't a part of the North East anymore. RE: Tyne and Wear Metro - streetdeckfan - 28 Feb 2023 What's the reason for the boarded up windows? RE: Tyne and Wear Metro - MurdnunoC - 28 Feb 2023 (28 Feb 2023, 5:17 pm)streetdeckfan What's the reason for the boarded up windows? To give them that 'Houghton-le-Spring effect' since they pay for the Metro but receive no benefits. RE: Tyne and Wear Metro - Storx - 28 Feb 2023 (27 Feb 2023, 9:04 pm)omnicity4659 No deliveries are rejected due to graffiti. It's to be expected with all new deliveries worldwide as there is a bounty on trains that haven't been tagged yet. Nexus wouldn't accept the delivery if there was graffiti mind. It was removed at Tyne Yard by Arriva Care hence it coming in clean on the video after you posted. Believe they refused units in the refurbs which had been tagged. RE: Tyne and Wear Metro - markydh - 01 Mar 2023 (28 Feb 2023, 5:17 pm)streetdeckfan What's the reason for the boarded up windows? Apparently it's to help with running cabling from external vehicles through the units whilst they make their long journey to Gosforth. All the units will arrive in this way. RE: Tyne and Wear Metro - Rob44 - 01 Mar 2023 (27 Feb 2023, 6:25 pm)Storx Should be easy enough to do, even the London Underground has phone signal in the stations now and they're a warren of tunnels compared to the Metro which is pretty simple in comparison. No signal for ee or vodPhone on london underground.... from recent experience RE: Tyne and Wear Metro - Storx - 01 Mar 2023 (01 Mar 2023, 8:49 pm)Rob44 No signal for ee or vodPhone on london underground.... from recent experience Think they've just signed up EE seems they want the whole network by the end of 2024 which is quite impressive considering how hard it will be at some stations like Bank which is just a maze and I can't imagine them being able to do it when the network is live either so quite a limited time. https://tfl.gov.uk/info-for/business-and-advertisers/creating-a-connected-london Even planning to do the tunnels aswell which I didn't realise - thought it was stations only. RE: Tyne and Wear Metro - streetdeckfan - 06 Mar 2023 Are they transporting the trains by road? Saw what looked like two Metro trains on the side of the A1 tonight RE: Tyne and Wear Metro - deanmachine - 06 Mar 2023 (06 Mar 2023, 12:51 am)streetdeckfan Are they transporting the trains by road? Nope via rail from Switzerland. (28 Feb 2023, 7:34 pm)Storx Nexus wouldn't accept the delivery if there was graffiti mind. It was removed at Tyne Yard by Arriva Care hence it coming in clean on the video after you posted. Believe they refused units in the refurbs which had been tagged. Good job Nexus aren't the ones receiving them isn't it? Stadler aren't going to send their own trains back to Switzerland because of some graffiti when they have their own depot in Gosforth. RE: Tyne and Wear Metro - streetdeckfan - 06 Mar 2023 (06 Mar 2023, 3:44 pm)deanmachine Nope via rail from Switzerland. Strange, we definitely overtook 2 train carriages on the A1! What other trains are of a similar colour to the Metro? It was dark so the colours may have been a bit different. If I get a chance, I'll pull the dashcam footage and see if it picks them up. RE: Tyne and Wear Metro - Michael - 17 Mar 2023 Tyne and Wear Metro FB page did a live video earlier, showing and giving people information about the new trains https://www.facebook.com/mymetrotw/videos/539878594938408 RE: Tyne and Wear Metro - NEbushopper - 18 Mar 2023 (17 Mar 2023, 6:25 pm)Michael Tyne and Wear Metro FB page did a live video earlier, showing and giving people information about the new trains Mind that camera quality is rubbish. RE: Tyne and Wear Metro - Unber43 - 30 Mar 2023 The Metro is currently closed between Brockley Wins and Jarrow, and they said there will be trains between Brockley Wins and South Hylton, but are they just the trains which are currently stuck on that line and can't go to the depot. Also what about driver change overs how do they do that? God hope that none break down in the coming 5 days RE: Tyne and Wear Metro - Michael - 30 Mar 2023 (30 Mar 2023, 7:50 pm)Unber43 The Metro is currently closed between Brockley Wins and Jarrow, and they said there will be trains between Brockley Wins and South Hylton, but are they just the trains which are currently stuck on that line and can't go to the depot. Also what about driver change overs how do they do that? I don't really know where all the sidings etc are on the metro/Network Rail but I hope they don't park some in South Hylton, they'll be gone in the morning although they can't get far haha. Sunderland station could be a place to store them? RE: Tyne and Wear Metro - Unber43 - 30 Mar 2023 Might Park them in Sunderland Train Station and Park Lane Station |
