(03 Dec 2013, 7:21 pm)aureolin Can't say I'm too disappointed myself. It's not a patch on the facilities at the Raich Carter centre, Aquatic, or what the new Washington Leisure centre will be.

(07 Feb 2014, 8:09 am)Dan Looks like a new bus stop has been built on the Vaux site.
When is this project meant to be finished again?

(19 Feb 2014, 11:04 am)Michael The Crowtree is almost down - only the shell remains - The bridges has bought this by the papers, nothing confirmed yet from the bridges.
They making the road straight as possible for better access to the VAUX area with a dedicated bus lane on both sides, this allows traffic to flow better.
Here is a video, theirs no sound but it shows you what is happening and what months - although it looks like their gonna open both roads together instead of 1 at a time. - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oy5fAHrY_bo
Where the road is now around the Londonderry all that will be replaced by a new square, this will be untill the new road - http://www.sunderlandecho.com/news/busin...-1-6149182
By the council once everything is complete.. the road and square, their are developers waiting to build on the VAUX site.
Best of watching the video and having a look though all the pages - http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1006895 - theirs 33 pages with pictures of the development from start to now.

Nick Clegg confirms £87m deal to sort the Vaux site, build the new bridge and create 9,000 jobs in Sunderland
Under the City Deal status, Sunderland gets:
•£5million for the development of an International Advanced Manufacturing Park next to Nissan – equivalent to the size of 140 football pitches.
•£82.5million of funding that finally gives the green light to the long-awaited new road bridge over the Wear.
•The creation of 8,900 jobs by 2031.
•A new Central Business District on the Vaux site, aimed at injecting new life to Sunderland city centre.
•Once established, the deal is likely to bring £295million in private sector investment in the city’s manufacturing industry.
•The creation of a Skills Compact that will invest in Wearsiders and help the unemployed or unskilled.
Also on the VAUX site some of the tarmaccing has already been done on the Eastbound lane. With it started to lay on the Westbound.
Are they gonna shut both roads during the day so they can connect both sides or are they gonna close it during the night to avoid ALOT of disruption?
Work has started in the middle of the 2 roads to remove the barrier fencing

(14 Mar 2014, 7:20 pm)Michael Could be but by 2031.
Just happy to see the new Bridge approved.. heard work could start this year and be completed by 2017 (as this was the year they told the government it would be completed).
Looking forward for the new roads to open on the VAUX site and teh square starting to get done, should be nice for when the new - Central Business District on the Vaux site to be built which is aimed at injecting new life to Sunderland city centre.

(15 Mar 2014, 8:48 pm)aureolin New bridge would have been started first time around, if it wasn't for the pathetic cabinet at the council wanting the spectacular instead of the necessary. I understand that the cosmetic side of things is important, but the bridge wouldn't have even served it's purpose, despite looking spectacular.
