Great North Run 2022
Great North Run 2022
Very surprised to see that based on the maps on the Nexus site, Stagecoach won't be running their 553 this year, leaving the Newcastle to Shields work entirely to GNE with the R1 (what could possibly go wrong...)

Good to see ticket acceptance in place across all operators and modes of transport, less good to see only very vague info about what buses are running when, with only a couple of weeks to go.

Definitely a better setup this year which I hope works out. I know I give operators a lot of criticism but hats off to them for working together with the R1 and ticketing.
Outstanding work between Arriva, Go North East and Stagecoach this Sunday. The Metro too did it's best. Staggering still was the sheer volume of traffic, often single person occupancy that brought the A194 and A185 in particular to a standstill.
I don't understand why there were so many buses at such an early time running around carrying fresh air. I was delivering before 10am on the Sunday. Surely it would be more beneficial to the environment to have them parked up at key points to spring into action?

Then they would have been full. As it was traffic through the tunnel was ridiculous, can't criticise a well-planned and ran service when joe public take no notice..

which buses were running through the Tunnel on Sunday? Plenty of options from Newcastle and to the Sunderland area, but nothing apart from the Ferry going north.
