The big 5 day metro line closure is here. Starting Monday 20th March and running till Friday 24th March
No trains will run between Airport and South Gosforth for five days starting Monday 20 March. The closure is needed to allow for overhead power line renewal work. Trains will return to service in the affected area on Saturday 25 March.
A replacement bus service 900 will be running, calling at or close to all stations Airport to South Gosforth. The bus will continue to Four Lane Ends to turn for the return journey to Airport.
Trains will be running to all other stations but will not be to the usual timetable. Track your train in Real Time using the Pop app. Download the Pop app here or search for Pop Nexus in the Play Store.
Fawdon level crossing will be closed during the work to pedestrians and to road vehicles. A taxi shuttle service will be available to take customers to the opposite side of the Metro tracks if the alternative walking route is not suitable.
Your journey will take longer especially if transferring between more than one mode of transport. Please check train and bus times before travelling
(18 Mar 2023, 7:48 pm)Aaron21 Today's metro replacement has been shocking. Was at Heworth for 20 od minutes between metro replacement. Three GNE buses came in and left NIS & so did 1 Stagecoach bus. A jh 901 left then nothing for 20 minutes. Not even a bus at Heworth wating

(18 Mar 2023, 8:22 pm)Storx Not sure what time you were travelling but I could imagine they were prioritising runs out of Sunderland towards Newcastle after the game. Not to mention the football traffic wrecking havoc at the same time.
The timetable was unrealistic today and they knew the football was on so there's no excuses. Not sure how busy they were either but only having a 15 minute service before and after the game is stupid aswell.

Rather hilariously, even though there was a lack of buses yesterday. It seems there was the opposite problem today, GNE and Stagecoach buses duping each other running to the same running times. Don't know how that managed to happen.
Bit confusing metro rep coming up. Maybe someone can make sense of it. Its the 24th June part km confused about the 900/901
On Saturday 24 June, no trains will run between Jesmond, South Gosforth and Four Lane Ends until about 6.15pm*
and no trains will be running between South Gosforth and Airport all day. This is to allow for depot signalling work to take place.
* The time will vary depending on location and direction of travel.
Replacement bus services will be running:
Bus 900 between Haymarket and Four Lane Ends (via Regent Centre)
Bus 901 between Haymarket and Airport (South Gosforth and Airport after 6.15pm*)
Replacement bus timetables to be uploaded soon.
If you are attending the Hoppings, Haymarket station is the nearest station during the line closure.
On Sunday 25 June, no trains will run between South Gosforth and Airport all day. This is to allow for depot signalling work to take place.
Replacement bus services will be running:
Replacement bus 901 between South Gosforth and Airport.

Makes slightly sense from the nexus website today
During the weekend works there will be a replacement bus service 900 running from Haymarket to Four Lane Ends, and a 901 bus running from Haymarket to Airport. They will be in operation during the works and will call at or close to all Metro stations affected.
There will also be an express replacement bus service X901 which will operate a faster link between Newcastle city centre and Newcastle Airport every 30 minutes between 8am-6pm on Saturday 24 June and Sunday 25 June.
Metro services will resume between Jesmond and Four Lane Ends at approximately 6.15pm on Saturday 24 June, and between South Gosforth and Airport on Monday 26 June. Some last and first train times will be different to normal so please check before travelling.
