Same with the two lane into one filter just before the footbridge, and of course buses from under the viaduct needing to get across three lanes of traffic. 

That whole entry area into the bus station should be one big box junction really.

Hopefully, they've built the potential for that into the current relays.

Looks badly designed for various reasons

Even further away from the town centre shops than the current one

When buses are reversing off the first couple of stands, buses entering will end up blocking the road

Not enough layover stands, and those that there are are badly located, involving buses leaving the bus station, and having to go round and come in again.

No alighting stands meaning again, buses will have to alight further into the bus station and possibly go out and come back in.

When it comes to new bus stations nationwide, you only tend to get two types thesedays, either big old fashioned facilities in busy towns replaced by new ones that are too small, or over the top large facilities in small towns that end up with more capacity than total buses (Hexham looks like it might be a bit like this)

A new bus station on the existing site, removing the building would be better in my opinion

I've just completed the bus station survey on the DCC website. It's a bit disappointing that there are more questions to satisfy their own equality monitoring, than there are on the actual plans for the bus station.

The A690 speed limit at the location shown in the proposals is only 30mph, but the entrance and exit are both to be 'intelligent' traffic light controlled, to give buses priority.  The traffic light systems will also be part of DCCs Project SCOOT.

The A690 speed limit at the location shown in the proposals is only 30mph, but the entrance and exit are both to be 'intelligent' traffic light controlled, to give buses priority.  The traffic light systems will also be part of DCCs Project SCOOT.

Durham Bus Station on weekday mornings in school holidays leading up to 9am, chaos! Had to board the X12 to Newcastle from stand H instead of stand A.

All layover bays occupied, services on wrong stands (50 on stand A was what forced the X12 onto stand H).

We arrived at Milburngate expecting our purple steed to come whizzing round the corner off North Road within a few minutes.
After waiting and waiting, we found out they were turning left out of the bus station.
Despite it not being within the timeframe that they were supposed to be avoiding Milburngate.

We (and many others) then marched up to the bus station to get it.

Really keen on going this year, but will probably forgo the 20 this year due to the cost implications.

We managed to get a 22 home from the bus station, last year (we'd been elsewhere for the day - it's all too much for Big'un and has no meaning for him) but it was far more packed than in previous years and the bus station was full of lairy drunkpeople complaining because their bus wasn't on time or looked different. Getting off at home was hard for us because we were upstairs on a 57 reg lowlander with bells that didn't work properly (BVG?). Given that voer 4 times the population of Durham is expected to turn out, this year, we might give the city a complete swerve but our 22 or 58 will still be adversely affected to/from the other direction.

Milburngate being closed to traffic is every year, and we've had plenty of practice at not being able to go that way, this year! My big concern, this year, is, on top of new Elvet being closed, Crossgate Peth is closed, so the 6, X12 etc can't divert that way, plus just about every other approach to the bus station is closed, but I can't find any information about how that affects buses. I spent a good 10-15 minutes frantically googling and searching.

I either pay £2 return and the 3 little Constanpolouses go free. Or I get on a few stops further up the A690 and pay £13 for a family ticket.

The other option, which slipped my mind is ANE. All trips are £1 with CTBW.
If enough people are switched on, GNE could take a hammering this weekend - not in a good way either.

Apparently there's extra buses on the park and ride, but this article says nothing about extra parking. From experience, Belmont is always full on a normal day
