September 2017 Go North East Following the end of the two-phase Major Line Closure taking place between Monday 31st July and Saturday 2nd September 2017 to allow for work at Northumberland Park station and track and bridge renewal work which forms part of the £350m Metro: all change modernisation programme, this vehicle has transferred from Riverside Depot to Percy Main. Though originally expected to be withdrawn from 3rd September 2017; this vehicle will instead be retained until after the Great North Run, to assist in the coverage of extra vehicle requirements for this event (up to an additional 90 buses) and to assist in the coverage of extra vehicle requirements at Percy Main for Cruise Ships shuttle services.
September 2017 Go North East Prior to entering service; this vehicle has received "X9|X10" branding, featuring the tagline "Direct to the heart of the city". In order to combat the strong public perception that people who travel on public transport are beneath those on the Social Class hierarchy compared to those who travel by car, and to show car users that they do have some commonality with bus users, each vehicle with "X9|X10" branding will feature a different type of bus user. September 2017 Go North East Following the introduction of new vehicles on services X9/X10 (Newcastle - Middlesbrough), this vehicle has been temporarily withdrawn from service. Whilst temporarily withdrawn, this vehicle will undergo repaint as well as internal modifications, which will see the installation of tip-up seats to create a buggy bay as well as the fitment of 'Next Stop' audio-visual announcements, better matching the internal specification of the buses allocated to "Tyne Valley Ten" services 10/10A/10B.
September 2017 Go North East Although originally intended to be withdrawn following the Great North Run, to assist in the coverage of extra vehicle requirements for this event (up to an additional 90 buses), this vehicle will instead be retained in the fleet at Stanley Depot as a replacement for Dennis Trident/Plaxton President 3885 (NK51 UCN) which has been withdrawn.
September 2017 Go North East This vehicle, which carries a midnight blue base livery, has arrived into the Go North East fleet. It is currently being prepared for service at Saltmeadows Road Depot. Representing an investment of over £1.6m, this batch of vehicles have been ordered to upgrade "Tyne Tees Xpress" services X9 and X10. These vehicles feature the latest technology, and are fitted with Volvo's new 5.1 litre D5K-240 engine, which is Euro 6 emission compliant. September 2017 Go North East Though originally intended to act as a float/reserve vehicle to cover vehicles away for refurbishment at Bus & Coach World, Blackburn, this vehicle has instead been withdrawn from service at Riverside Depot.
September 2017 Go North East This vehicle has been temporarily withdrawn from service at Riverside Depot and released for internal refurbished and repaint at Bus & Coach World, Blackburn. The extensive refurbishment work includes, but is not limited to, external repaint; deep cleaning of the interior of the vehicle; renewal of floor coverings; cleaning all seat frames and re-trimming seats into leather with USB sockets on the back of every seat; fitting blue accent lighting underneath seats to provide extra light on the gangway; and fitting Next Stop Announcements.
September 2017 Go North East Photograph by This vehicle has returned to Go North East following internal refurbishment and repaint into a plain orange base livery. It is currently undergoing preparation for service at Saltmeadows Road Depot prior to allocation to Hexham Depot. As part of ongoing improvements to services in Hexham, "Tynedalexpress" services X84/X85 will receive an upgraded Mercedes Citaro allocation, with the existing Scania L94UB/Wright Solar vehicles allocated to Hexham cascading to another route.
September 2017 Go North East Though originally intended to be withdrawn in line with cascades being made available in line with the entry into service of new Volvo B5TL/Wright Eclipse Gemini 3 vehicles on services X9/X10 (Newcastle - Middlesbrough); this vehicle has been withdrawn from service earlier than planned, with Volvo B7TL/Plaxton President 6032 (V332 LGC) taking its place in the fleet at Stanley.
