June 2020 Go North East From Monday 1 June 2020, in line with guidance from the government, Go North East's bus services will start returning to what can be considered a 'normal' level of service on weekdays (albeit still reduced on weekends), also with some minor changes which had originally been planned to take place from 17 May 2020. As such, this vehicle has now been re-licensed, but remains out of service.
April 2020 Go North East Following completion of all required vehicle re-allocations; this vehicle has been temporarily withdrawn from service due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and has been officially delicensed (SORN'd), enabling Go North East to obtain a tax refund.
December 2019 Go North East Photograph by Having previously carried a promotional livery for Go North East's "Big Days Out" campaign, this vehicle has now been repainted into Go North East's 2019 fleet livery.
September 2017 Go North East This vehicle has received a promotional livery for Go North East's "Big Days Out" campaign. The campaign, which was originally introduced in the summer of 2017 but will now be ongoing for the foreseeable future, has seen Go North East partner up with a number of attractions and businesses to bring its customers some great family offers. Customers who buy a £10 Family Day Ticket are eligible for discounts at venues involved in the partnership. This bus is one of four which will receive a promotional livery for the campaign - each example is different, with this one having a beach theme. The livery intends to raise awareness of this campaign and the company's Family Day Ticket, which permits travel for up to two adults and three children under 16 in all zones. The introduction of this campaign has also seen the ticket price reduce from £13 to £10 on-bus (matching the cheaper price previously on the mobile app).
December 2015 Go North East As part of a project to upgrade "Coaster" service 1 (Wrekenton - Gateshead - Whitley Bay), this vehicle has been fitted with free customer Wi-Fi. This follows a recent deep clean on all of the "Coaster" branded vehicles at Thornton Brothers, Ashington. Should any "Coaster" branded vehicles be off the road, this vehicle should be allocated to maintain a standardised service specification.
April 2013 Go North East Photograph by Go North East stated in a customer consultation to review the 9 and X3 services that the company wished to increase the frequency of service 9 (Sunderland - Boldon - Jarrow - North Shields) to every 20 minutes across the whole route and introduce route branding to the service. Customers did not favour these plans, and alternative service changes being introduced meant that the plan to brand 5247, 5248, 5249 and 5274 did not go ahead. Instead, these vehicles have gained large 'Northern' fleet names.
April 2009 Go North East Photograph by Following the cascade of double-deck vehicles to upgrade the "Angel" services, this vehicle has been transferred from Chester-le-Street Depot to Stanley. This vehicle has also undergone a repaint into a plain red base livery.
