As such, this vehicle has transferred from Riverside Depot to Sunderland, to allow this PVR increase. It will be used on service X20 later this month, which is being reinstated from Sunday 28 January 2024 in partnership with Durham County Council and Nexus, using Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) funding. The double-deck ex-London Volvo B9TLs currently used on "Prince Bishops" services 20/20A will then be used on the Nexus Miscellaneous Works contracts from L&G Coaches.

September 2017 Go North East Prior to entering service; this vehicle has received "X9|X10" branding, featuring the tagline "Direct to the heart of the city". In order to combat the strong public perception that people who travel on public transport are beneath those on the Social Class hierarchy compared to those who travel by car, and to show car users that they do have some commonality with bus users, each vehicle with "X9|X10" branding will feature a different type of bus user. This example shows a female student.
September 2017 Go North East So that the entire batch of vehicles are registered with '67' plate registration marks, only available for vehicles being registered from 1st September 2017 onwards, this vehicle has surrendered its original registration of NK17 GKE and has instead been re-registered as NK67 ECE.

These vehicles feature the latest technology, and are fitted with Volvo's new 5.1 litre D5K-240 engine, which is Euro 6 emission compliant. Internally; they feature Esteban Civic V3 seating complete with leather and soft topper foam for added comfort; four tables on the upper saloon; two-colour Tarabus 'Wood Effect' flooring; and blue accent lighting, which is fitted underneath seats and on the stairwell, to provide extra light on the gangway. Like all new vehicles; they feature Wi-Fi, 'Next Stop' audio-visual announcements and USB connections as standard, though these vehicles also feature three-pin power sockets on the upper saloon tables.
