An hour door to door.
The equivalent now, is the 56 or the metro. I know which one I'd choose...
To be fair, the 56 is only timetabled to take 10mins longer than the X4 did. Which surprised me.

The timetable... Good joke

I'm the sort of person that would rather spend 80 minutes on the 26 than get the metro. Maybe once they get new trains I might rethink that choice

I noticed on one of the Citaros they've replaced a seat cushion, are they using a different shade of red and blue, or have the old seats really discoloured that much?[Image: 36b1246b6b7d5311f2c9adc86468153b.jpg]

It must have been the comftable seats on the X4 that made it feel quicker!

Looks like NSAs are buggered on 6338, 6339 and 6340. Been on all three today and they haven't worked, not even the LED/LCD displays

The seats on the refurbished Citatro's are extremely uncomfortable. No padding whatsoever.

I know, they're horrendous. And yet I'd still rather travel on one than the metro.

Seems strange they'd refurbish them with leather and put the most pathetic amount of padding in them. Maybe they were keeping the whole padding budget for the E200/E400s!

That thing is absolutely hideous! It would have looked alright if they didn't put the fake grille on the front

Each to their own... I was at the launch at Beamish Museum on Friday, and there were no negative comments at all. Everyone loved it, and said the grille in particular was quite creative.

Maybe I should have came along, I would have filled the place with negativity
I like the idea of the grille, I just don't think it looks very good on a Versa because of the shape of the headlights, I think it would have looked quite nice on a Solo

So whats the plan with 710-714, are they going to leave the fleet, reallocated elsewhere?

I know they are non-standard compared to the other Solos in having Cummins engines and longer wheelbase.

They're for disposal.

Glad they've done something about the Solos on the M routes, seems like a bad investment, they haven't been in the GNE fleet for long.

Be careful, can't be talking about the luxuries of it yesteryear - people will accuse you of looking through rose tinted specs Wink

But yeah, they were good! Very comfortable!

I notice the Optare MetroDecker has reappeared on the fleetlists, Martijn mentioned on his facebook last night that it was away for further modification.

RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - November 2019 - Andreos1 - 25 Nov 2019

I've mentioned previously that the 'Farewell Solar' event is like some sort of sick joke.
Now I find out there's a special beer for the event and it's available at the Central in Gateshead...

Might have to tag along after all! Can't be missing out on a nice beer in the nice bit of Gateshead.
Might just sacrifice the fawning over knackered Solars bit and head straight to the pub!

It was missing from the bus times fleetlist, and I'm sure it was removed from official fleetlists. Someone mentioned it had gone back with 9084. Kind of made sense at the time considering the Cobalt and Coast Geminis had all returned from refurbishment.

Tragic! They were a bit rough for sure, but they handled much better than most of the newer Solos, and of course they were the fastest buses in the fleet.

And a total headache from an operations point of view. Most days there was an issue with at least one of them, and has been the case for a long time.

They were fast, but that's all they were.

What happened to 6336? It was out in service yesterday but apparently it couldn't operate due to an 'incident' with the bus
I presume that's just marketing crap for it broke down?
