RE: Lord Adonis publishes NELEP North East Independent Economic Review - stagecoachbusdepot - 26 May 2013 (15 May 2013, 11:51 am)gtomlinson Newcastle won't get a US flight outside of the Jet2 charters to Newark. There are already direct flights from Newcastle to the USA: http://flights.thomson.co.uk/thomson/en-GB/farefinder/default?sortOrder=&pageIndex=&originAirportCode=NCL&destinationAirportCode=SFB RE: Lord Adonis publishes NELEP North East Independent Economic Review - gtom - 26 May 2013 Yes but seasonal charter flights to a holiday destination are different to a scheduled flight. Thomson won't carry business cargo to Sanford The airport wants a daily link. They won't get ot. RE: Lord Adonis publishes NELEP North East Independent Economic Review - stagecoachbusdepot - 26 May 2013 (26 May 2013, 3:01 pm)gtomlinson Yes but seasonal charter flights to a holiday destination are different to a scheduled flight. I'm aware of the difference between charter and scheduled flights. My comment was in response to your previous assertion that "Newcastle won't get a US flight outside of the Jet2 charters to Newark.", which they clearly have. I don't think Thomson would care whether passengers are flying for business or pleasure - the flights are freely available to book independently of a holiday/package. Agree there's little prospect of a daily service to the US, passenger numbers would just be too low. RE: Lord Adonis publishes NELEP North East Independent Economic Review - gtom - 26 May 2013 To my initial comment ' Newcastle won't get a US flight outside the Newark and Orlando charter flights' If that makes things clearer. I think you miss my point about business cargo. The Emirates flight accounts for a massive massive proportion of cargo handled at Newcastle, if it wasn't for the huge cargo amounts, Newcastle would still be receiving an old A330 kit and at the bottom of the line. Whereas the fairly antiquated 767 that Thomson use won't carry any business cargo at all so is of little value RE: Lord Adonis publishes NELEP North East Independent Economic Review - Andreos1 - 19 Nov 2014 Although a suggestion to create a roads & infrastructure thread, was never taken forward, the NELEP thread is possibly relevant to the widening of the A1 Western Bypass, Silverlink and also Testo's roundabout improvements. Also has there been any more on the dualling of the A1 North of Morpeth, had a look on the highways agency website but couldn't find anything? RE: Lord Adonis publishes NELEP North East Independent Economic Review - Andreos1 - 01 Jan 2015 I don't know unfortunately. Found this quote. David Cameron: "I have made clear to the Highways Agency they can start spending the money today on the preparations necessary.from http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/a1-dualling-recap-updates-reaction-8204578. There seems more holes in there, than his usual patter. RE: Lord Adonis publishes NELEP North East Independent Economic Review - mb134 - 01 Jan 2015 (01 Jan 2015, 2:29 pm)Andreos1 I don't know unfortunately.I'm not optimistic like, things clearly didn't start "today" or we would have seen something by now. (Not expecting a dual carriageway to be done and completed just surely there would be something on the highway agencies website) RE: Lord Adonis publishes NELEP North East Independent Economic Review - Andreos1 - 12 Mar 2015 No idea if anything has changed or moved on with regard to the junction improvements at Silverlink, although the Travelodge site is to be redeveloped. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/jobs-joy-silverlink-shopping-park-8821126 RE: Lord Adonis publishes NELEP North East Independent Economic Review - Adrian - 13 Mar 2015 Kind of related, but Durham County Council have been tweeting the following: Durham County Council Want to have your say on devolution for the North East? Not sure it compares to the Central Motorway plans as suggested like. If you are unaware, this is a brill site http://pathetic.org.uk/features/tyneside/ RE: Lord Adonis publishes NELEP North East Independent Economic Review - JakeSavage - 16 Oct 2015 Very good site is pathetic motorways. And the Tyneside story really does underline how "motorway mad" the city was to have been, before its policy change in favour of metro development. Be interested to know how others view the plans for Percy street - seems to imply there'll never be a queue to the car parks....!
