RE: 24th March 2024 Changes - Retro Nero - 10 Mar 2024

(10 Mar 2024, 1:22 pm)TEN 6083 Prince Bishops as well. I’ve been in Durham the past couple of days photographing rail replacements and a few of them are missing vinyls.

I hope they keep the 60 Livery and don't dum the brand down similar to Coasters old Livery to the new one that would be a shame.

About time, still sticking to the same Streetlites on the 60?, hopefully they might get a seat upgrade with USB's.

They could do with new buses, they need it tbh.

When Deptford goes eletric or hybrid or whatever GA or GNE are thinking theyll probably be first in line to get them

RE: 24th March 2024 Changes - OrangeArrow49 - 11 Mar 2024

I wonder if only the Solos are getting a refresh for Tynedale Links or if the Versas could be repainted yellow?

RE: 24th March 2024 Changes - OrangeArrow49 - 19 Mar 2024

Does anybody know yet when the refresh for Tynedale Links is happening and if the same buses will be in the livery or if some of the other Solo SRs or Versas will be repainted into the new livery?

Has the yellow been changed to a brighter shade or just the same?

317 is going great.

660 got taken off and replaced by a Cobalt cause of a break down and now 5463 has also died on its first journey taking 20 minutes to get from Percy Main to Royal Quays

Typical of the wrecks that are offloaded to Percy Main.

GCT 351 from Newcastle - Whitley Bay didn't even start at Haymarket, it started in Jesmond and is running 8 minutes early.

It would've that's just a tracking error, GCT cuts out all the time - if it's working at all.

All of the buses seem to be running very late too, unusual as it was very reliable when Stagecoach operated it.

Hopefully it’s just some teething issues.

Of course. Can't wait to hear (of some people) that gne will run it better because "there better than never)

Sorry "better than ever"

Quite a few 309's still struggling with timekeeping today!

Think bar evening and some early morning journeys, GNE will have to eventually omit High Farm during the day (covered by the 307) with Arriva sending a new bus & driver out from Blyth (already do as of today on a Sunday)

RE: 24th March 2024 Changes - Rapidsnap - 24 Mar 2024

Traffic lights outside my shop in Wallsend ain't doing the traffic any good.

RE: 24th March 2024 Changes - Storx - 24 Mar 2024

I know this might be a controversal opinion but I really don't understand why the 19 and 317 are both every 30 minutes on an evening and Sunday.

The councils are completely cash strapped and they're subsidising buses which are as frequent as buses from Ashington to Newcastle. It's a complete waste of tax payers money. Those 3 buses could be much better utilised, even if they ran the long 19 route on Sundays - at least the thing might actually have a purpose considering East Cramlington is busless.

It's even more baffling that the 57A runs at the same time, so North Shields to Whitley Bay via North Tyneside Hospital is more frequent on an evening and Sunday than during the week...

I've never understood why the 57A from Whitley Bay to North Shields exists - any idea what the purpose of the service was/is?

Legacy route, the 57A used to be Cramlington to North Shields but I'm clueless why it still exists nowadays if I had to be honest. The subsidy has just never changed from when it was cancelled nearly 10 year ago now, why - god knows, incompetence more than likely.

It's the same as that circular route, who's number has bolted from my head in Sunderland which still existed until reletively recently.

Oh yeah, the 135/136 - that was another waste of money that could've been better spent elsewhere.

I agree with your original post though, surely the 317 would be sufficient on a Sunday. I'm not sure what the benefit of the 19 is considering Cobalt is dead on weekends, and most 19s I see are completely dead on Sundays.

RE: 24th March 2024 Changes - nova347 - 24 Mar 2024

One thing I will say about the 317 delays, when the 1 got extended and took over the 97 to Metro, on the first few days they faced massive delays now it runs fine.

Aye that's the one.

Yeah totally agreed, it just seems overbussed to me, like I could understand the long 19's running as it opens up a few links but the shorts is just pointless. Personally, I wish they'd drop the 19 down to hourly all day and work with Stagecoach and extend all the 22's to Northumberland Park. From a future rail user, having a frequent bus down to Cobalt / Silverlink / Wallsend would be actually kind of useful and I'm sure there'd be the potential for a few doing the opposite flow especially considering the 22's are also dead most the time. The services between the Metro and Cobalt are appalling imo.
