Regarding the Newcastle NHS service, does anyone know why the Darlington/Durham NHS hospital services H1 & H2 were not extended or renewed? Was it because they were losing money or not enough usage?

I don't know the answer to that one sadly, I would assume that the NHS trust just didn't want to pay for it any longer hence the contract didn't get renewed. I am guessing the usage figures etc would be taken into account when making their decision so that's probably a partial answer.

Maybe running their own buses like Hartlepool/North Tees now?

The H1/2 was very rarely used since all of the work it used to take can now be done by cpmputers, there was still a few parcels to go but due to very low useage it got wothdrawb, arriva saw how much money it was loosing so it pulled the plug before it was too late

Was wondering why the 22 and 24 were being cancelled and then looked further down - swapping numbers?

I think Darlington are continuing to use Solos on the 21, Stockton use Scanias on 21A (which is what the morning X21 will run off) and Durham I'm not too sure but I would imagine a Pulsar. Unless it runs off the 24X in which case it'll be a decker.

Thanks, the loading's must be decent from Sunderland to Peterlee, if we getting a 3rd service there, be interesting to see what GNE do, when they see they have launched a 3rd service to Peterlee...

If these contracts go ahead, i really hope Arriva get Sunderland's lot!

I think the market in Sunderland is sewn up to be honest.

Going back a few years, there were probably more opportunities - the frequent services offered by the other two and the death of the villages in East Durham, have probably seen the end of those opportunities.

The only thing they can do, is expand on what is already on offer, by offering potentially faster journey times - such as the x21.

Often see vehicles heading light on an evening out of Park Lane, back to Belmont too.

Ye, not many places they could go, as Stagecoach and Go North East both have established routes.

I do hope Arriva win LOT 1 from NEXUS, if it happens
