I think this thread speaks for itself. If we're suggesting a service for Nexus to run, then it wouldn't be commercially viable anyway.

But would you say the Services in there present form are any good, look at the 27X as an example, been Withdrawn due to low passenger usage, perhaps by looking at the bigger picture you would see that between Hebburn and Heworth you have the following services 27 - Every 10-12 Minutes, 68 - Hourly, 515 - Hourly and TB529 - Hourly, clearly those using the services between Hebburn and Heworth are going get on whatever turns up first, therefore there is no balance between services as passenger numbers fluctuate, they are therefore not commercially viable as a result, whereas if you were to perhaps merge these services together, numbers would rise and combined running cost would be reduced thus making said set of services if merged more viable to be ran commercially.

I think the 37 should go back to Sunderland:

37 - Sunderland - Barnes Park - Silksworth - Doxford Shops/International - Herrington Burn – Washington – Concord – Coach Road Estate - Concord – Waterview Park – Enterprise Park – Sunderland - Hourly

37A - Other way

Each will take 100 minutes on a hourly bases with a PVR of 4.

The 37 should be axed imo. I don't know how Nexus can justify paying for the service.

How many commercial services are doing sections of this route already? Sunderland - Barnes - Silksworth - Doxford, has god knows how many buses per hour. Sunderland - Herrington burn has at least 6. Sunderland to Concord has the 56, and Sunderland to Washington (via the Enterprise Park) has the 8.

Perhaps the better option would be to fund a diversion of the 8 to go via Teal Farm? It was their residents association who keep pushing for the changes to this route, yet don't seem to bother using it.

No, the 8 already takes 100 years to get from Sunderland to Stanley.

I don't even know why the 73 runs either, same as the 135/136...might as well withdraw them to.

You can say that about other routes though, having loads of buses in the area.... Sunderland Hospital is one example....

I recently rode the 73 from Sunderland Park Lane to Concord Bus Station and it only picked up a few passengers over the whole journey. When it left Concord as the 37 it picked up no passengers and only had a few on when I saw it again at Washington Galleries.
