Hopefully a longer service this year, given Newcastle host Manchester City at 15:00. Imagine quite a few people will be staying out after that one, regardless of the score!

Who knows!

It's all well and good promoting that they'll be running buses on Boxing Day, but in September and not publishing times to go along with it is just gonna make it another failure... Another marketing team success  Rolleyes

We should start seeing the boxing day services appear on VOSA in the next 1 or 2 weeks, i think we'll get mostly the same as last year but i expect the Stagecoach X24 to run on boxing day, as it didn't start until January 2017.

The arriva X24? It doesn't even run Saturdays, now. It's just a peak college/works run on weekdays.

be amazed if X24 gets in service on Boxing Day. X34 never has in the past. however it took the X24 to be introduced for a Bank Holiday Monday service to operate on X34 so we may get suprised. But I'm not holding my breath. I don't think stagecoach have really altered their Boxing Day services since the days Go North East didn't operate at all and Stagecoach took their routes on Boxing Day.

Single day timetables only need to be registered with 21 days notice - although many Operators do either register and/or advise LAs further in advance. Last I heard, TFGM still hadn't been supplied with all the Christmas Period changes, but past experience suggests its the small Operators that either haven't decided, or haven't got round to informing TFGM.

Do GNE or the other bus companies running the 2017 Boxing Day services give any idea on how much they were used,or is it classed as confidential.im just curious as to how it may be run in 2018. I noticed that last few years services have increased on a Boxing day.

Whilst the recent move to increase service levels on Boxing Day is to be applauded, I still think more needs to be done not only on Boxing Day, but other Bank Holidays.

Unfortunately, we still see the same excuses regarding passenger numbers and viability trotted out
I still have no idea how a service is deemed suitable to operate or not, when its never operated in the past on those days.
Logic dictates that if a service has never operated on those days, then it is pretty difficult to guage demand.

Then there are public events and weather that can influence and change demand on an annual basis.
Newcastle at home but not the next? There's a potential 52,000 more thousand people needing shifting one year, but not the next. Regardless of how many people are heading to the sales.

Time for them to take more of a gamble I think.

Yet they insist that a Saturday service is enough and there isn't enough demand. Despite people regularly flooding operators social media pages stating the issues they have getting to work.
I will put a few quid on in Fozzes Bookies those posts are from a small proportion of those needing to travel.

Always about profit though, never think of others, same for all the big operators in the NE.
