My question is who would take such an unreliable awful service, with delays possibly waiting an hour for X45 the service has been cut in half, and you have a car insurance etc, who would take the bus.

97% of people wouldn't, but they aren't targeting the 97%, the majority of people take the bus cos they don't have access to a car.

(02 Aug 2022, 2:22 pm)Rob44 I made the switch from my car to bus due to diesel being so expensive but also the buses i needed to get  connected ( somewhat) on the way to work and it was cheap at 4.10p per day. Not used the bus since the change but im sure the price of a ticket has gone up, ive gone from a choice of 2 buses to one bus per hour and more problematic are the time it would take me to get to and from work has increased due to the buses not conecting anymore. then there is the the fact that all the above doesn't matter if the buses aren't go9ingt o turn up so im now back with me car to commute to work
Who'd have thought it?
Diesel increases in price, so guy switches to public transport.
Guy finds travelling by public transport more difficult due to the cuts imposed by public transport operators. So he switches back to car.
Public transport operators complain there's traffic causing delays to their buses.

It must be a huge building that penny was thrown off. Cos it hasn't dropped yet... There's gonna be a huge thud in the Ivory Towers when it does!

This may sound a bit too simple however

MD1 (Match Day service 1)
Express Service leaves Eldon Sq Bus Station Express service - stops at Washington Galleries -CLS - Stanley - Consett bus stations

MD2

308- 309 service to Blyth except Express non stop to Battlehill

MD3

X21 non stop to CLS then to Durham

If NUFC are on board to encourage travel by public transport too

A 70 seater Double Deck bus at say £2 per person £140 for an hours worth of journey

Many people don't use buses as they feel it takes too long and stops at every stop but creating Express buses and limited stop may change the percepttion

Look at 41 and 41A service one of the services go via Wiltshire Drive however passengers think it's longer and takes too long it adds about 1-2min onto the journey

Same as 310 and 311 via Mullen Road and High Farm compared to 309 adds an extra 2-3mins but people perception is that it takes too long

Look at the X39 why do people use that service as oppose to the 309 service? It's down to limted stops and speed it's what customers want

If only there was a pub you could go to after the match. They need to start mentioning pubs on NSA's, as a sort of 'refuge' whilst waiting for a bus.

I've heard of a fantastic pub just of the High Level Bridge. If only there was an announcement to let me know about this pub

Don’t you worry Dan. The reliable arriva X12 got me home! Even after a few pints

Whilst the queue for the 21 was endless.

Was picking up the crocodile last night and saw a number og GNE buses using the central motorway and coming off at the claremount road junction then travelling down past the uni towards the civic centre. Was there an accident in Jesmond causing the diversion or is this a new part of the route??

I've been on several GNE buses from south of the Tyne that have taken that route on a night.

Burst water main outside the Civic has seen Sandyford Road closed for emergency repairs.

The 21 badly needed some dupes tonight. The queues were back up to the newsagent in Eldon square.

Thankfully Washington used all their common sense to support by whacking a Graphite solo on the 28B post match…complete with a driver who ranks with Vladimir Putin for people skills

I have to say the drivers ive had dealing with recently have been really good.  Maybe they are reverting to their ald ways

I get the same 60 three times a week, and my driver is always so miserable, but I know in Sunderland this one bus driver is just always happy and smiling, and tbh its really nice to see.
