(01 Jun 2018, 2:54 pm)8222 Andreos - you need to try a Titan 757. Had one of those instead of BA last year and it was sheer luxury! Saying that, I've always thought I'd rather have an A32x short haul - whereas for long haul I like a 747/777. But, I have to say, I have a massive soft spot for the E170/E190 series...
Trying a 789 this summer of BA. Shall see how that compares to the 744 I have back from Phoenix!

(01 Jun 2018, 8:34 am)8222 In my opinion there are a number of factors to consider.
1 - They need to compete against the A321LR. The 757 is perfect for this; but the current 757s are becoming old. The last one rolled off in 2004 - the technology and the engines are not the most efficient (but definitely some of the most powerful!).
2 - Boeing have the 737 MAX10 as a competitor to the A321LR. This will somewhat replace the 757 long haul missions - but it is important to note that they say it is not a direct replacement of any of the 737 family.
I think it would take a lot of effort and money to reopen the production line; as well as a lot of capital investment to update the design. It's easier to do when a model is already in production - such as the A32X Neo series. I think it will want to invest more capital into its 787 and 737 lines, as well as the proven 777 line - especially having just gained approval from the FAA for folding wingtips.
Obviously, this is just my opinion - but it would seem they have made their minds up on this one.

(10 Aug 2020, 3:24 pm)8222 Flew out of LHR yesterday. So sad to see the 744's parked up, including Negus 744I had a trip planned on the upper deck in April next year (and the A318 the opposite way!) so I'm gutted to see them taken out of service. Currently trying to find alternatives for both! They seem to be putting the 772s with Club Suite on the JFK route though so I may just stick with that on the way back.

I've updated my flight list following on from a trip last week.
The bonus was an unexpected aircraft operating the return flight.
Also present in the airport coming back, was a couple of Rossiya 747's, including EI-XLD. Quite spectacular close up!
