I'm hearing that the Perryman O-licences will be renamed Border Buses Ltd, but the Perryman's name is to be retained in the meantime.

So what buses will they get? Last time I saw First Borders they had a quite a bit of old stock. Good for Perryman's anyway!

They don't seem too sentimental on names!

It's a few years since I was up on the west coast, but the fleet always seemed decent and looked after.
Obviously margins and contracts will be different up there, compared to on the east coast.
One to keep an eye on!

The allocation at Galashiels is a handful of B7TL/Euro 4 B9TL's , Scania L94UB/Wright Solar's and ADL E30D/Enviro 300s, The later are used on the X95, With the Solar's mostly making up the rest of the PVR, Aswell as former most of the X62, Which I can tell has declined significantly since the opening of the Borders Railway.

I could imagine the current Perryman's ops at St Boswells will either be linked in to the current Hawick outstation or either the Hawick outstation moving into Galashiels or St Boswells.

Anyways, West Coast Motors have started procuring additional vehicles for the takeover, Such as Scania K230UB/Scania Omnilink YR14HLU, Which is currently operating out of Berwick for the meantime.

Sorry i missed this post before, cheers.

Hopefully it will be a success for them as the 95/X95 must have reduced in passengers quite a lot.

South Queensferry

A statement from Lothian Buses

We are unable to comment on other operators business decisions with regard to the operation of their bus services either current or future, however it has been highlighted to us today by concerned customers of Stagecoach’s decision to consult on the withdrawal of services from South Queensferry. We will, as always, listen to our customers comments and will in due course investigate any potential opportunities that may arise.

The new website of Borders Buses https://www.bordersbuses.co.uk

They're taking over the operations of First East Scotland as of tomorrow. Their Facebook page currently includes a picture of a couple of new looking E400 MMCs.

Lothian Buses are to launch a new Service 200 from Ocean Terminal to Edinburgh Airport.

To go to the Airport from seemingly Gogarburn (where the RBS Headquarters is - sharing the route with the 35 to/from Edinburgh and the Airport) it's a premium fare zone.
Wondering what will be put on this. New financial year and all that?

Not a fan of the airlink livery, but the skylink is very smart.

I agree. The bold gold lines on the Airlink livery just don't work for me.

Looks smart.

Daft question, what are they replacing?

B9s.

B9s cascade down to replace remaining Tridents in the fleet.

It doesn't seem likely that the 'Edinburgh Zoo' liveries will be continued onto the B5s unfortunately.

Lothian Buses

Earlier this week, the new Volvo B5TLs were launched on service 26. Like their Volvo B8RLE counterparts in the East Coast Buses fleet, they feature two Next Stop Announcement screens. One is for the Next Stop Announcements, while the other is used for promotional videos, advertising, live Social Media feeds, etc. The two screens on the lower-deck are mounted into the glass behind the stairwell (one above the other), while the two screens on the upper-deck are in the front windscreen, mounted quite nicely side by side.

Today marks the entry into service of the new Volvo B5TLs (in the revised Airlink livery seen on a handful of the current - or now 'old' - batch of Airlinks). The Next Stop Announcements are set up in the same way as the Volvo B5TLs on the 26. I believe the current batch of Airlinks are due to cascade to service 35, replacing the double-deck Scania OmniCitys presently allocated, which will be disposed of.

The new batch of Airlinks feature fabric seating and no tables in the upstairs saloon - pretty basic and the trend of downgrading the service with each 'upgrade' it receives seems to have continued.

Looks like its a Streetair - not keen on the roof part.

While not as dominant as the previous B9s now on the 31 and other routes, the new B5s on the 26 have gained Edinburgh Zoo vinyls. Lets hope they are all as clever as the one on 495:

4 of the Streetairs are now in Edinburgh. 286 (SK67 FLE) has been out on the 'short' 26s between Haymarket and Eastfield today alongside the Vintage Fleet and the two Fleet Liveried open top Tridents. While two sisters (I didn't get chance to ID them - think one was 287) were on display at the open day - one open to the public and the other on the lifts. Meanwhile, 288 was inside the depot unregistered (see below)

I quite like the look the look of the Streetairs, I do however hope Wrightbus offer a variation on the B8RLE Chassis offering a higher seating capacity.
