Thanks for the information. Phoenix decided? I thought Northumberland County Council decided the route and timetable? Healthy competition for Arriva? Competing how? I agree it provides one alternative to Arriva, I noticed recently only Arriva operates from Newcastle to Alnwick, but they will be more frequent and probably cheaper? I'd use Phoenix to go to Alnwick instead of Arriva, but I'm not sure many people will. I like alternative services.

Unfortunately the North East Explorer will not be valid on the 15 apparently.

You would think the Explorers would be accepted as PCL did when they operated the service...

I did think so. Unfortunately Phoenix have said they will not be valid. There will be single, return and weekly tickets available.

Are Network 1 Day Rovers valid for travel on the 15 and 808 within Tyne & Wear?

RE: Phoenix Coaches - OrangeArrow49 - 24 Feb 2020

(22 Aug 2019, 2:00 pm)PhoenixCoaches1 Hi all,

Monday - Friday 808 service will end at St Thomas Street. This vehicle will then run the 15 from the Haymarket to Thropton.

We decided to extend first and last part of the service to Newcastle as the bus will be travelling up there anyway - healthy competition for Arriva.

On a Saturday, there will be 1 vehicle operating the 808 and a separate vehicle operating the 15.

What is the fare on 808 from Bank Foot to Newcastle City Centre, and the 15 between Haymarket and Regent Centre?

Thanks.

RE: Phoenix Coaches - OrangeArrow49 - 15 Mar 2020

Is there a return ticket available on the 808 between the A1 Roundabout and Newcastle City Centre? £1 each way is perfectly reasonable (more than reasonable) but just would like to know.

Phoenix have won the M71 Contract of Gateshead Central Taxis from March 29th 2021

RE: Phoenix Coaches - OrangeArrow49 - 22 Apr 2021

How come the 15 doesn't operate to and from Newcastle anymore? The 808 used to run onto the 15 and the 15 onto the return 808. Was it axed to accommodate operating the M71?

Newcastle section was axed late last year IIRC as seemingly didn't carry many/if any passengers on this stretch, 15 & 808 have more or less been standalone since although sometimes a bus will occasionally do both.

I've only just realised! There wasn't likely to be many passengers last year. Surprised the 808 still operates, not many passengers on it since the pandemic started. Phoenix got the 808 permanently?

RE: Phoenix Coaches - OrangeArrow49 - 11 May 2021

A rare working on the 808 this afternoon in place of a Phoenix Fiat Ducato was a plain white Peugeot vehicle, some kind of ambulance / patient transport vehicle.

RE: Phoenix Coaches - OrangeArrow49 - 19 May 2021

Peugeot vehicle on the 808 again today (same one as on 11th May, I think) but not on their fleet list.

RE: Phoenix Coaches - OrangeArrow49 - 22 May 2021

Could Phoenix Coaches introduce a new service? Maybe a service from Newcastle to Blyth? Would be good to see the 808 run a few more times a day.

Ready for tomorrow’s start on emergency contracts !! (Posted onto Buses North East group on Facebook)

According to the comments, they were awarded the contracts due to another operator being unable to continue with them. I’m guessing this is GCT who are possibly unable to fulfill the services possibly due to lack of vehicles / drivers to run them.
