RE: Go North East - Secondhand Deckers 2022 - Andreos1 - 12 Sep 2022 (12 Sep 2022, 12:04 pm)Chris 1 Thanks. I thought I recalled reading something years ago about the type approval regulations changing, and there no longer needing to be a separate emergency door on a duel door bus. It's interesting that. Looking at it, I'd assume the emergency door being on the opposite side to the entrance/exit was incase of a collision to the side of the vehicle, if it was balanced on a cliff edge or if it toppled over on to its side for example. Basically ensuring that there was always an escape route. That's not going to always be the case on a dual-door vehicle and may need the use of the tungsten hammer to escape. RE: Go North East - Secondhand Deckers 2022 - Storx - 12 Sep 2022 (11 Sep 2022, 11:17 pm)Rapidsnap Thought I do an update since I now have the details for all the ADL Enviro 400s. LK59CYP is LX59CYP (WVL276) Have a feeling the B9's are going to be coming from WVL 278, 280, 297, 307 - 312, 314 - 331. WVL276 (LX59CYP) and WVL332 (LX59DDJ) are already here and the current buses so far have been numbered and they fill the gaps in alphabetical order, they've all been withdrawn from London duties. RE: Go North East - Secondhand Deckers 2022 - Chris 1 - 12 Sep 2022 (12 Sep 2022, 12:19 pm)wibblejunior The Spirit of London E400 has an emergency door https://flic.kr/p/bB5dUL Yeah, was after a certain date. 2011 maybe? I can't remember the exact changes, but I'm sure there was something like side marker lights and bumpers included as well. Is this not where the designation of E40D (or indeed E20D) came in? RE: Go North East - Secondhand Deckers 2022 - a718abb - 12 Sep 2022 Regarding the possible removal of the centre doors, a point that needs to be remembered is that on the E400's, the wheelchair ramp is on the centre door, like it was on the 02 reg Volvo B7TL/East Lancs that were used on the Pink Angel a few years ago. This would prevent the removal of the doors. The design of the Wright Gemini 2 may be different, allowing the removal of the door. I think the ramp is on the middle door on all London bus types these days. Could be wrong mind. RE: Go North East - Secondhand Deckers 2022 - Storx - 12 Sep 2022 (12 Sep 2022, 12:47 pm)Chris 1 Yeah, was after a certain date. 2011 maybe? I can't remember the exact changes, but I'm sure there was something like side marker lights and bumpers included as well. The bumper thing would've likely been number plates weren't allowed to be behind glass anymore / has to be lit up and the side marker lights. Believe it was the same time legally the fire exit door had to be on the same level as the entrance on single deckers, the reason it's in the middle now vs being at the back. It would've been 2010/11 as Arriva's early Pulsars and Geminis don't have side markers and the Pulsars number plates were moved from behind glass to at the bottom. See below the minor changes: Before: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/b8/Arriva_bus_1404_VDL_Bus_SB200_Wrightbus_Pulsar_II_NK09_BPF_in_Newcastle_upon_Tyne_9_May_2009_pic_2.jpg/1200px-Arriva_bus_1404_VDL_Bus_SB200_Wrightbus_Pulsar_II_NK09_BPF_in_Newcastle_upon_Tyne_9_May_2009_pic_2.jpg?20090514194915 After: https://www.flickr.com/photos/chrisbell50000/8162047777 RE: Go North East - Secondhand Deckers 2022 - Rapidsnap - 12 Sep 2022 There is a simple reason the E400 haven't been converted.... Yet? They are beneficial for quicker loading and unloading which is handy for work like this and especially with the tight turnaround time at South Shields. The other reason is that they wouldn't have had time to do the conversion before the contract started. They could well be done at a later date. RE: Go North East - Secondhand Deckers 2022 - ne14ne1 - 12 Sep 2022 (12 Sep 2022, 3:08 pm)Retro Nero I agree. You have to take into consideration the position of the raised kerb at bus stops are not in a position for centre door ramps. Raised kerbs aren’t required for ramp operation surely. They manage in London. RE: Go North East - Secondhand Deckers 2022 - Storx - 12 Sep 2022 (12 Sep 2022, 3:17 pm)ne14ne1 Raised kerbs aren’t required for ramp operation surely. They manage in London. Bus stations are the issue in the North East in particular Haymarket and Eldon Square as the middle door is behind the no go barrier so they couldn't get on at all. RE: Go North East - Secondhand Deckers 2022 - Rapidsnap - 12 Sep 2022 Most bus stations in the North East would have issues with Dual Door buses. Only ones that can completely used easily by Dual Door Buses are Gateshead, MetroCentre, Washington Galleries, Hexham, Killingworth, Blyth, Ferryhill, Four Lane Ends and Regent Centre. All the others are either Drive On Reverse Off or have badly positioned street furniture / shelters blocking the second doors. Seems GNE have either bought / loaned some ex L&G Coaches President’s RE: Go North East - Secondhand Deckers 2022 - Rapidsnap - 12 Sep 2022 L&G are running a few scholar services on behalf of GNE. RE: Go North East - Secondhand Deckers 2022 - Dan - 19 Sep 2022 Not sure a final list was ever confirmed, so: East Yorkshire
East Yorkshire (loan buses, pending delivery of buses from Go-Ahead London)
Go North West
Go-Ahead London Volvo B9TL
Go-Ahead London ADL Enviro400
Latest arrival is ex-East Yorkshire 786, now numbered 6193 (YX08 FWE) at Go North East. Repainted prior to collection from East Yorkshire. Go North East: 6193 / YX08FWE by Daniel Graham, on Flickr RE: Go North East - Secondhand Deckers 2022 - Jack Gill - 19 Sep 2022 This has probably already been answered, but are the E400's staying after the metro replacement contract has ended? RE: Go North East - Secondhand Deckers 2022 - F114TML - 19 Sep 2022 Would they go to the expense of refurbing and painting them just for a few months' work? *looks at X22* Go North East - Secondhand Deckers 2022 - Dan - 19 Sep 2022 (19 Sep 2022, 3:48 pm)F114TML Would they go to the expense of refurbing and painting them just for a few months' work? Oh dear - this one has backfired on you! The E400s are planned to stay and will replace 6901-19. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
