hi
i thought i would give some helpful inforation that may be a slight assistant. the reason why the new streetdeck buses have been delivered or will be delivered to lothain are to release the original airlink buses onto a different service, i think it is the service that has the last remaining of the older plaxtn presidents and 51 plates that either will be sold or should be scrapped depending of the quality and the performance of them
. but please dont have a go at me if this is not true because i am just telling you the information that a driver on the 25 bus that goes passed haymarket train station told me

Just a little correction, There not Streetdecks there Volvo B5TLs but the rest sounds like it will happen once the new buses have been delivered.

Also, Welcome to the forum buss14

sorry i am not that good on the names of body of the bus, but what the driver told me may not be true so dont quote me on it as i am just going to see what happens when the new buses arrive if they actually do because i tend to see what is happening when the buses go into service and i ignore the drivers judgement usually because half of the time it is a load of lies that why i am telling you to be careful and wait and see what route they are going on

Demonstrator Volvo B8RLE/Wright Eclipse 3 BA15BXS visited Lothian Buses for company management to evaluate earlier this month: the first operator in the UK to do so. It left Lothian on 11th August 2015, and is currently at Volvo Truck & Bus Centre (Midlands) in Coventry.

Hopefully now a demonstrator is out, Go North East and other companies such as Arriva will not focus on the Streetlite for long distance routes. Routes such as the Fab Fifty Seven could however manage with Streetlites - the route isn't exactly that long.

Saw former Lothian President SN51 AYP heading south on the A1 just past Berwick. No idea where it was going to but as it was heading south being driven rather than on the back of a tow truck, to another operator rather than a scrapyard.

Just 19 Harlequins remain to be repainted into Lothian's classic madder and white livery now. The fleet-wide repainting scheme is expected to be completed by next spring: six years on from the first repaint.

641 is the latest repaint out of Harlequin and into madder:

Former "Airlink" branded Volvo B9TL/Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 941 made its first public appearance in green and cream yesterday at the Open Doors Day event. It has been repainted ahead of next month's service changes which will see the Lothian Country Buses network expand even further:

Indeed it has. Apologies - I just saw it and assumed that they were starting to replace the rollers with LEDs.

It has been like that for a good number of years yes - was the one they trialled that style in.

Managed to get a fairly reasonable look at the NX fleet in Dundee on a recent trip up there.
Something I hadn't really managed on previous trips up to Fife and Angus.

The NX logos seem to have all gone, with the 'Xplore Dundee' vinyls attached.
Some vehicles seemed to have the new livery. Others didn't. Those in the old livery, still had the National Express logo markings visible from the old vinyls.

The fleet seemed fairly modern and unremarkable, although the Presidents in the fleet have 'round' headlights, similar to Alexander Alx vehicles.
I hadn't noticed this previously.

Managed to catch a glimpse of their Eclipses. Several have famous names attached to them, including 'Lorraine Kelly'.

Stagecoach had a smaller presence. Although they seemed to have some intercity work floating about

I like the new Xplore Dundee green livery compared to the old red and white National Express regional livery. I managed to get a some photos of the new livery and a selection of other NX Dundee buses including the Lorraine Kelly. Examples in the link below.

While I was in Arbroath and Dundee I also noticed that Stagecoach have started to use bus conductors on their Taylink 73 service.

The Taylink 73 has always used conductors.

Yeah, I agree about the colour scheme.
The red and white looks dated.

I noted a RM out on a 73 and blinded up as a dupe.

Another £3m Scottish Green Bus Fund

Operators are now being invited to bid for the latest round of Scottish Green Bus Fund (SGBF). A further £3m is being made available from this year’s Future Transport Fund as part of the Scottish Government’s commitment to promoting Low Carbon Vehicles. Over the past five rounds of SGBF funding, Transport Scotland has provided grant funding totalling almost £13m, enabling 269 new low carbon emission buses to be introduced in Scotland by March 2016.
First in Scotland were among the operators to apply for SGBF grants and last year received total grant funding of £920,000 supporting the purchase of 75 new vehicles.

Visit www.transportscotland.gov.uk/public-transport/ scottish-green-bus-fund for further details on the SGBF and application forms.
