(24 May 2020, 8:32 pm)Malarkey I know covid 19 hasn't helped but you have to feel for Wrightbus employees for what they've been through over the past 18 months or so, I think they'll complete the current orders which are months behind now and then wind up the business. If WrightBus couldn't complete GNE's orders for any reason, would GNE be insured to then either get their money back and perhaps order vehicles elsewhere?

Photos have started to appear on Flickr of the new prototype single deck bus, currently on trials in Ipswich.

3 speed Voith box seems strange, especially coupled with the OM936 engine. Would have thought that, since it seems to be designed for more heavy duty work, they'd have put a 6-speed ZF Ecolife in there.
Mind I'm not sure I get the excitement surrounding it. It's a heavy duty single deck which, according to operators, isn't required? Or have they realised that Streetlites and 4-cyl E200s aren't all they made them out to be?

(17 Feb 2021, 8:42 pm)streetdeckfan 3 speeds are still a thing?!It reminds me of this:
Assuming it's based on the same chassis as the StreetDeck, there should be no reason for it to not come with the same drivetrain options.
Do we actually know much about the underpinnings of it?

(17 Feb 2021, 9:57 pm)Malarkey Bodywork is no different to that of the Wrightbus Volvo B8RLE's which Lothian Buses have, just an alternate chassis option given the success they've had with orders on the Double Deck variant.

(17 Feb 2021, 11:14 pm)mb134 In terms of design I much prefer the Evora bodywork Lothian have on their new batch of B8s, the Lothian livery possibly helps given it is quite angular itself mind.

That said, I think I prefer both the Wright bodywork and the MCV one to the E200 MMC at this point, and both are substantially better looking than a Streetlite.

(17 Feb 2021, 11:33 pm)streetdeckfan I personally think the E200 MMC is one of the ugliest single deckers, not quite as bad as the gormless ALX200, but the asymmetric front end just looks like it's having a stroke.
I think the StreetLite is alright, it's not the best, but it's pretty inoffensive.
Like I said, I'm still on the fence about Wright's 'stealth' single deckers, the destination blind sticks out too much for my liking

(17 Feb 2021, 11:44 pm)mb134 One day I like them, next I think they're ugly. Tbh it likely comes down to what the livery is like. I think this looks reasonably smart: https://flic.kr/p/2kprKCE, but then this one looks weird: https://flic.kr/p/2kzhweh.
I think I just prefer what I'd call "proper" single decks, ones that looked like they'd be able to cope with anything. Stuff like the entire Wright Eclipse Urban/Solar/Pulsar line, the Renown, the ELC European, hell even the Temsa Avenue. The StreetLite and E200MMC to me always just looked like mini/midibuses which had been stretched - much like those X-GGO Darts ANE had a few years back.
(17 Feb 2021, 11:48 pm)Storx Nice looking buses them tbf and agreed tbh. Wright try too much lately imo, the basic designs they had before was always nicer imo. Alexander Dennis aswell.
It's no-where near the ugliest single mind, not even Wright.
That goes to the Handybus that looks like the glass fell over when they we're designing it and they just thought meh that's pretty cool - https://www.flickr.com/photos/andysbusph...2456640111 the alignment is off everywhere aswell. Ugly things.

The MCV eVoRa doesn't seem as bad as the Wright bodies on the same chassis, have found the Volvo B5TL with EvoSeti double decker bodies better than the Gemini 3s like GNE have, same can't quite be said for looks but otherwise MCV seems better IMO.
