Also, while on the topic of the Laser, i assume 4945 and 4946 will not be receiving a repaint due to them only been repainted last year or whenever it was? Certainly wasnt in 2009 thats for sure!Aye... I discovered that when I moved over to Monkwearmouth.

You find that certain boards are, without fail, allocated Mercs (presumably these are the ones that are secured at some point during the day). Others will usually be allocated a Merc but can throw up a red Solar. The branded Solars are almost always on the same boards too - and it's these boards I avoid when going to school on a morning!
Think you're right re ex Nine Solars.

I passed 'The Point' today on my way to the City centre and noticed a sheet of paper taped to one of the glass doors.
It's a notice from bailiffs warning the business operators not to attempt to enter the building as the lease had been forfeited.
Looking next door it seemed that 'Arizona' and the 'Purple Room' were shut too (although I may be mistaken as they're not the most salubrious of premises and may've just looked derelict).
A chance they may be demolished and earmarked for something nicer perhaps?

Hmm interesting, i always thought the point was way to expensive but if Arizona and purple bar has shut down, that's a surprise, they were always busy.
By pictures, first part of the new road, where Brogans used to be has being tarmacked, roads coming on great!

A night club needs to be self sufficient, without relying on external promoters to bring their events there. Even that slowed down once they realised the club wasn't the best design for sound travel.
I used to quite like the Arizona and Purple Bars. Always busy as you say Michael.
(26 Jul 2014, 6:09 pm)Michael wrote Arizona was class, all the old music etc, even with its sticky floor!
(26 Jul 2014, 6:20 pm)aureolin wrote haha yeah, but it could have been worse. Think Tuxedo Princess!
I noticed that innfusion has reopened too, dropping the 'inn' from it's name. It could have happened a while ago, but I rarely go to Sunderland these days. It's another one that used to always be a cracking bar. £2.50 for a treble+mixer.

The revolving dance floor was always a challenge to get off after one too many.
(26 Jul 2014, 6:25 pm)aureolin wrote Haha yes. The stench of vomit as you walked down the narrow corridor to the main arena.
Remember the revolving dance floor in the Palace nightclub?
(26 Jul 2014, 6:32 pm)Andreos Constantopolous wrote Cant remember the Palace at all. Where was that at?Palace was the Mecca on Newcastle road, above the bowling.
Saw Phats and Small at whatever the nightclub was called in Birtley (changed its name regularly and is now a gym). A few mates went to see The Vengaboys when they appeared there - I made sure I was elsewhere that night.
Apart from that, all my nights out were usually in decent places.

Bust up over boulevard decorated with trees.
(31 Jul 2014, 4:17 pm)cbma06 wrote supposed to be special trees lol, Its probably because when the business park gets built and the council moves from their tatty civic centre to a new build at the business park their be able to look out of the windows and see all those pretty trees all in the line lol.
(01 Aug 2014, 9:08 am)Michael wrote If they are moving i would imagine that it will be knocked down, the whole lot needs to go, least then they can build a car park on it... as the new college built in the city centre wont, sure i read it would have no car park.
(01 Aug 2014, 10:06 am)cbma06 wrote Its ashame we couldn't kick the council out into a disused building in the city, and then knock down the tatty civic centre, and their could of build the new college on the area of civic centre, knock down the crappy civic centre car park and build a big new multi storey over the metro railway line area. then the holmside area should be become a new indoor shopping centre.
