There is a change coming to the Mayoralty in the North East.
The post of North of Tyne Mayor, currently held by Jamie Driscoll, is being abolished.
In its place is a new vacancy for Mayor for the North East. The area covered will basically be Northumberland, Tyne & Wear and County Durham, excluding Darlington which comes under the remit of the Tees Valley Mayor.
Jamie has not been selected as the Labour candidate and will stand as an independent. The Labour candidate will be Kim McGuinness.

I started this wiki a while ago to allow me to easily share fleetlist onto the site for certain local operators where I used to live in the North West I was interested in tracking. Then I added the North East as I was interested in it cos friends with Tyresmoke it then moved into Staffordshire because yahoo groups closed and I was a mod on a site for news there. Many years ago it was a home built website but that died when I gave up and lost interest as I was looking for something simpler to just click n update.
Since moving I have started to add in South Australian fleetlist for local operators in the area. Also since this site dont do fleetlists anymore I decided recently to add more NE operators to the site so feel free to request any you want adding (will link just the NE section below)

Seen some talking about Hill Street in Newcastle about the number of buses and it got me thinking, which bus stop has the most buses stopping at it where you can board a bus?
This has to be an individual bus stop so not split bus stop or a bus station etc.
I'll start it with the Brandling Arms in Gosforth towards Newcastle and Askew Road towards the Tyne Bridge which both have 36 buses an hour, is there any higher?

(26 Mar 2024, 9:28 pm)L469 YVK wrote Rather than throwing money at all these secured Micky Mouse services, some of which only turn up once an hour and are off no use unless dependant.......is better bus / metro integration with local and major routes not the way forward? Seamless ticketing and guaranteed connections. Obviously would never work under the existing private / secured service model.....but bigger picture needs looked at.
Fine example.....308 / 309 in North Tyneside.......passengers ride through to Northumberland Park instead and straight onto Metro....route lengths cut down, more connections and useful links created rather than just another bus along the Coast Road to Newcastle running late as **** some days and sitting in all that traffic. Not saying to scrap them by any means yeah? But just a prime example
Going to reply to you here as it's not really relevant to where you posted it.
Yep, pretty much and it's how it would work in pretty much every country in the world (bar the UK). You'd badly need to get the Metro to Cobalt first though and then build a hub near Silverlink though, Northumberland Park would be a bit of a detour for the Coast Road services, the 351/354/359 should all hub into Northumberland Park though with frequent services (not hourly) and similar for North Shields, 1/306/317.
I'd argue the 22 should extend to Northumberland Park asap aswell to give Northumberland Line South links aswell, and a decent link from Northumberland Park to Killingworth, again for hub links and treat it as a proper hub for services, even if it is bus-bus changes.

As if things couldn't get worse, now there's this to add into the mix, absolutely embarrassing that this and the Tyne Bridge are being done at the same time. One lane through the Tunnel, one lane through Newcastle and roadworks on the Western Bypass.
'Excellent planning', as an understatement.
