News, debate and discussion on the North West's Bus Operations.
Bus operators include the likes of Stagecoach, First, Arriva and many more.
Was out and about today and I stumbled across these at Washington Motorway Services.

Looks like Dennis R Y437DAB has been painted into fleet livery.
A new addition to the fleet is Volvo B10M R952YNF from Oakleaf of Barnsley.

Just came across this interesting read about value for money with operators.
Relevant to all operators...

New Dart Y10DPC entered service today in all over silver on the 18/19/45/492 circuit, it is fitted with a Mobitec LED and is expected to gain a non-cherished plate soon, I understand its a 51 reg.

A 170 page thread is a sign of a forum that is moving forward but it's discussion is diverse (and contains some heated debates)
Isn't it time it was split it up? Should spottings, phottings and days out be separated off (possibly into its own sub forum). Then each service discussion can have its own discussion.
The questions that the above poses, is where does the interesting operational bits go (eg breakdowns, buses on wrong routes).

Any views?
Lack of regional smartcard (Oyster style) that the report recommends is sorted within 18 months.
Metro to regional towns without a connection
Direct flight to USA
Return of Ferry service to Norway
Improve A1, A19 and A194. Create a Newcastle ring road.
Set up a new agency which is like Nexus for the North East.
They could call it Tyne, Wear and Tees. The acronym would be interesting

Has anyone seen or read this article which appears in the latest Passenger Transport?
www.passengertransport.co.uk/2013/04/eagle-vows-to-take-on-operators/
Without being too political, it seems Labour are keen on bringing back public transport into a Government backed Co-operative values type scheme, rather than the private enterprises and PLC's running train and bus services as they do now.

Is anyone going upto the Airport either Wednesday or Thursday to photo coaches in relation to the above match?
As far as I know there is only 1 flight planned to arrive on Wednesday but given i am at work on Thursday I am tempted to have a trip up on my day off tomorrow

Hi guys
Following an upload of 139 files to the server this evening for a new update, I've come to learn that we've now reached the maximum storage limit on our server for The Bygone Era.
The server we're on is free but has limited capacity. I wasn't expecting The Bygone Era to ever exceed this but now we have.
An option I'm seriously considering is taking out a subscription for increased storage. This evening, I've learned that a member of ours is prepared to donate thousands of files to us which dwarfs what we have already. This donation would contain a substantial amount of United, Busways and Go-Ahead material; but we just don't have the space for it unfortunately. Being none-the-wiser, I had tried to upload it all just an hour ago but it seems to have crashed so I don't think any of the files are working at the moment - but they should be working again soon.
The other option is "do nothing". Though this retains all of our existing material, I'd be unable to add any further items.
As much as I enjoy all of the old bus material and hence why I started The Bygone Era in the first place, I do this for the benefit of North East Buses too. I would definitely like to continue with The Bygone Era and I'm prepared to pay for the space required, but I've yet to gauge how much interest there is in The Bygone Era to warrant taking out a subscription for its continued running. Just so I can get an idea of how much interest there is in The Bygone Era, I've enclosed a poll below. If enough interest is made, I'll take out a subscription
