Much like 'the war' in the Fawlty Towers episode 'The Germans', it seems that we are not allowed to mention the phrase "City Transport" (oops, sorry for mentioning it) in any context whatsoever. So what better place not to talk about Cit...(nearly mentioned it again), erm, "Them" than in this thread here....

I guess there are certain things you are definitely not allowed to mention, aside from the name of the company.

For example, and as stated elsewhere on the forum, the ongoing dispute between former drivers of the company not to be named, Nexus, and Go North East should probably not be talked about, nor should links be posted like this one here.

I'm also guessing, because the judge incorrectly ruled against the director of the company who shall not be named in an employment tribunal, then we probably shouldn't link to the case either.

There are probably other things we shouldn't mention, like the oddly named companies registered at Companies House by a certain director of a certain company either, especially as this information isn't easily accessible or in the public domain and is hidden behind a shrove of secrecy like some sort of super secret society or something.

These are just some guidelines of how this thread should operate. If the rest of the forum know of any things about the company that definitely should not be mentioned, then please list them here so people don't get into trouble.

Today marked the final day of the Northumberland County Council's contracted 266 service. Operated by Borders Buses, the route linked Berwick and Wooler and quickly became one of my favourite discoveries after the introduction of the TNE day tickets.

Once news broke that the service was to be withdrawn, I knew I had to make the journey on its final ever working. From next week, the route will be partly replaced by a new 34A, running three days a week between Wooler and Cornhill before continuing to Kelso via Coldstream, Wark, and Carham. The remainder of the former 266 between Cornhill and Berwick via Norham will continue to be covered by the existing 67 Borders Buses service, which operates from Galashiels through Kelso and Coldstream.

Here we see Borders Buses 12106 (RJ21 XDO) at Berwick Station, preparing to work the final round trip to Wooler and back on 28/02/26.

The New Arrival Takes Off

In December, Newcastle International Airport scrapped its free drop‑off and pick‑up parking outside the terminal. At the same time, it introduced a new Waiting Zone at Callerton Parkway, just over a mile from the terminal building. The Waiting Zone offers 90 minutes of free parking and features a new 12‑bay ultra‑rapid EV charging station, with planning permission already in place for a drive‑thru coffee shop to be added later in the year.

From the 6 January, the airport launched a 30‑minute shuttle service linking the Waiting Zone with the terminal, operated by Park & Fly. To run the new service, a new arrival has joined the fleet. YY75 DXC which is an Alexander Dennis E10V/Alexander Dennis E100EV, notably the first example of its type in the North East. She is seen resting in the long‑term parking area on the morning of 10/01/26.

Boro based Siesta Travel have announced this is their last season doing coach holidays to Europe.

[quote]
Important announcement: 2025 season!

We know that many of you have been waiting for the launch of our 2025 season and we are so sorry to have to disappoint you, sadly, after 45 seasons of providing coach holidays to France and Spain it has been decided that 2024 will be our last season operating our coach shuttle service.

For those of you that have a booking in place for 2024 please do not be concerned, your holiday will still go ahead as planned and for those who had hoped to travel with us in 2025, we sincerely hope you can join us on one of our farewell 2024 trips! Our last departure of the Summer season will be 19th October and we will also run our winter private groups and our Xmas and New Year special.
The Lodge self-catering accommodation for 2025 season will be available to all Siesta Holidays customers via Lifestyle Holidays and a ‘previous Siesta customer’ discount of 10% will apply.

Many factors, mostly outside of our control, have made the coach programme more and more difficult to operate, particularly to the high level of customer care that our loyal customers expect of us. Above inflationary rising costs of fuel and channel crossings, essential to providing our package holidays has also made it more challenging to be able to provide the affordable holidays upon which we have built our reputation.

We would like to take this opportunity of expressing our gratitude to our many thousands of clients who have supported us throughout the years, and particularly those who helped us through the pandemic. The loyalty and support of our clients and staff is amazing and very much appreciated!
