CAZ violations - N391OTY - 30 Jan 2023

Noticed 5396 and 6168 at Haymarket tonight on services 25 and 311. I'm guessing neither of these are CAZ-compliant, but could be wrong. Other than that, GNE seem to have observed the CAZ pretty well, apart from the Percy Main Omnidekkas on the service 327. Does that service have any dispensation given the luggage capacity requirements ?

I would mark then 9+ out of 10 for compliance today, considerably better than the shambolic performance of the other large operator in the area. No, not Arriva ...

RE: CAZ violations - P814VTY - 31 Jan 2023

Apparently there's a loophole that companies can still run non compliant vehicles, providing they can either prove they are going to retrofit it to euro 6 or buy a replacement vehicle that is euro 6 within 12 months.

GNE was fully CAZ compliant yesterday, including 5396 and 6168.

Drove a non-CAZ compliant bus through the city centre earlier and can confirm that I wasn't shot.

Is it not Euro 6?

The 15 plate batch are Euro 5 as built, however all of the Country Ranger ones at least come up as exempt on the Government CAZ checker, which leads me to believe that they have been registered as upgraded to Euro 6 with a CVRAS approved exhaust system.
The 56-plate Omnidekkas do not come up as exempt in the checker therefore I assume that they are subject to the 12 month local "retrofit or replacement" exemption. If the 18 electrics for the 21 arrive within 12 months, fleet cascades will presumably allow their withdrawal.

Have a feeling it's more likely the Ex London WVL B9's that'll replace them.

Fair point, I briefly forgot about the fact that there are still 20+ of those awaiting transfer.

Any Vehicle made in 2015 or after that is Euro 5 is exempt, but any vehicle that is Euro 5 but older than 2015 is not exempt.
You'll see this with the 2015 Lites being exempt and the 2013 ones not being exempt. If that makes sense

Aye, speaking of them does anyone actually know where they're at. Believe most of them been withdrawn from London now.

The 15/16 plate Streetlite's 100% aren't Euro 6 without mods. It's why they got swapped with the 17 plates at Sunderland in the first place. The checker seems buggy as it says all the Solo's are Euro 6 aswell which they aren't.

Yes but the Streetlites are built between 2015 and 2022 same with the Solo SR's so if they were needed in Newcastle they would be fine. I Think GNE only has 1 Euro 6 SR which is 717.

They've got the Sunderland Connect ones too.

It doesn't matter they're not Euro 6. It's not about dates, it's about engine NOx output. They'd get fined, the checker is just wrong. Dan has already said they're getting Euro 6 mods so they've got an exception btw.

RE: CAZ violations - Unber43 - 04 Feb 2023

What about the 684/74

5377-79 are Euro 6(i think), but the Tynedale Links Solos aren't neither are 665/666/672

The Solos (apart from 721) are being upgraded to Euro 6 so are exempt.

Realistically, any operator that is continuing to allocate the same vehicles on services entering the CAZ is probably exempt from charges on those vehicles.
